Xbox One onesie now available for your avatar

Back in August, Microsoft Australia unveiled the Xbox Onesie, loungewear optimized for playing the console. It was a big hit but, outside of Australia and a giveaway run by Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, no one really knows where or how to get one.

Well, that’s solved — kinda — with the Xbox Onesie for Xbox Live avatars — available free to anyone who asks.

New Blaster Master coming to 3DS in 2017

Blaster Master, the well remembered NES favorite from 1988, is coming back next year as Blaster Master Zero from Inti Creates. The developer acquired the license to the game from Sunsoft and will publish the new game on the 3DS eShop.

The original Blaster Master game will be used as a base for Blaster Master Zero, meaning the new edition will include new gameplay elements such as new areas and bosses to battle, additional sub-weapons and refined gameplay when taking the fight outside of the tank.

Diablo 3’s retro Diablo level is an annual event, comes with exclusive loot

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls players will be able to relive the original Diablo, which turns 20 years old this December, as part of an annual event called The Darkening of Tristram, Blizzard announced earlier today at BlizzCon. The limited-time retrospective will be available to play in January, and will return every year in an homage to the original action-RPG.

The original Diablo was officially released Dec. 31, 1996, but most players — outside of Blizzard, anyway — didn’t get their hands on it until January of the following year, Blizzard explained.

World of Warcraft: Legion patches 7.1.5 and 7.2 revealed

Patch 7.1 for World of Warcraft: Legion just launched a few weeks ago, but Blizzard is already talking about what's coming next for the expansion. During a panel at BlizzCon, the developer revealed two upcoming patches full of new content: Patch 7.1.5 and Patch 7.2.

Patch 7.1.5 will be coming first and represents a new type of "small" patch that Blizzard is working on to ensure that fresh content will hit the game more often. The developer says small patches will focus on additions that will remain a part of the game long-term rather than content that only fits within the constraints of any given expansion.

Respawn publicly distances itself from Titanfall’s official Twitter account

Electronic Arts has had a week to forget, as far as Twitter is concerned. After causing outrage with some poorly considered World War I memes on the Battlefield 1 account, the publisher got into hot water again today with Titanfall 2’s Twitter account — which, it turns out, may or may not speak for developer Respawn Entertainment.

The past two weeks have seen a crowded field for first-person shooters. Titanfall 2’s release seven days ago was sandwiched right between the launches of EA DICE’s Battlefield 1 (one week before it) and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (today). It’s still surprising that EA would launch two of its biggest games of the season right next to each other, especially when they’re in the same genre.

Overwatch’s new Arcade mode comes with weekly rewards

Overwatch’s new Arcade mode, which Blizzard announced at BlizzCon 2016 today, will give players all-new ways to play the hero-based shooter ... and a new way to earn loot boxes outside of the normal experience-based progression.

Arcade mode is replacing the Weekly Brawl mode that switches up Overwatch’s normal game rules — but it’s also absorbing Weekly Brawl. The mode is actually a suite of other gameplay types, including Mystery Duel, Elimination, Mystery Heroes, No Limits and the full playlist of the game’s existing Brawls.

Watch Sombra recount how she became Overwatch’s most brilliant hacker

To introduce Overwatch’s next playable character, Blizzard Entertainment built the game’s most complicated mystery. The unknown is a key part of Sombra, as she herself explains in a new video that goes way back to her beginnings.

Sombra is synonymous with hacking in the world of Overwatch, and it’s a skill she’s been working on since childhood. Eventually, what was a passion project became a means of survival: The little hacker girl grew up to be a cybernetically enhanced super-spy, adopting the name Sombra.

Blizzard is opening up StarCraft 2 to an entirely new batch of players: AI

Inspired by Google DeepMind’s success with the creation of AlphaGo earlier this year — an AI machine capable of playing the ancient game Go to an expert level — Blizzard is looking to expand the player base for its real-time strategy (RTS) game, StarCraft 2.

Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Morhaime announced during BlizzCon 2016’s keynote presentation that the company is teaming up with DeepMind to make StarCraft 2 available to some of the most advanced AI players. The goal is to test the limits of modern artificial intelligence by seeing if it can learn to play a complex game that takes quick thinking like StarCraft 2.

The original Diablo is being recreated in Diablo 3

Blizzard Entertainment is marking the 20th anniversary of the original Diablo by recreating it inside Diablo 3, the studio announced today during the BlizzCon 2016 opening ceremony.

Diablo will arrive in an upcoming patch for Diablo 3 called Darkening of Tristram that will "send you back into the depths of the Cathedral," said Frank Pearce, Blizzard's chief development officer. Darkening of Tristram will offer a dungeon 16 levels deep in which you will face off against the four main bosses from Diablo.
