Bowser penis hit with copyright takedown

Making Bowser porn just got a little bit harder — at least, that’s the case for one artist on Patreon.

Akkocarcade is a 3D modeler who makes NSFW art for Source Film Maker, a program that allows people to make movies that often feature famous video game characters. But recently, Akkocarcade shared a screenshot on Twitter of a message from Patreon’s support team in which the company said it received a copyright claim for the artist’s work on the platform. [Warning: The linked Tweet is NSFW and contains sexually explicit images.] According to the notice, the claim came from Nintendo of America. Polygon has reached out to both Nintendo and Akkocarcade and has yet to receive a response from either party.

Echostasis revels in the horror of an algorithmically curated future

What if you could live in a world where you had everything you ever wanted, or could ever possibly want, and yet, you still weren’t happy? Worse, what if you discovered you could never leave that world, and the longer you spent in it, the more your so-called utopia would irreversibly warp into a waking nightmare?

Echostasis, the upcoming first-person horror game from designer Jamie Gavin, takes place in such a world. A playable prologue for Echostasis is one of the 25 demos in this year’s Haunted PS1 Demo Disc compilation, an annual celebration of low-fi horror demos that started last year.

The Mass Effect remaster looks way better than the original, and BioWare has the trailer to prove it

The remastered version of the Mass Effect trilogy is only a month away from launch and BioWare wants to make sure you know how good it looks. On Tuesday, the developer dropped a new trailer for Mass Effect Legendary Edition that directly compares it with the original trilogy. And the difference is pretty stark.

The trailer doesn’t show that much of the three games, but instead focuses on stills and sections that highlight how much better their new versions look. You can see individual scales on Thane’s skin now, and all the details on Tali’s protective mask. All of the character updates look outstanding, and when BioWare puts them side by side, it even makes the original games look a little frightening.

Blizzard Arcade Collection gets two more 1990s SNES hits, free

Two more throwbacks have joined the Blizzard Arcade Collection anthology that launched for PC and consoles back in February. They are The Lost Vikings 2, a sequel to the side-scrolling platformer included with the collection at launch, and RPM Racing, an isometric-style truck racer similar to the also-included Rock N Roll Racing.

The new games were added to the Blizzard Arcade Collection via free update on Tuesday. Blizzard Arcade Collection, a compilation of hits from the company’s earliest days (when it was known as Silicon & Synapse, and then Chaos Studios), launched in February on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. The anthology is a celebration of the publisher/studio’s 30th anniversary.

Fortnite’s new update lets you turn any car into a monster truck

Fortnite’s latest update has arrived, and it brings a ridiculous new gadget that makes car tires massive. With this new vehicle mod, Fortnite players can turn any vehicle into an off-road monster. The patch also gives the game a new line of superhero skins that players can customize however they want.

The Off-Road Tires vehicle mod can be found scattered around the island, particularly in places like garages — which makes sense. Once you pick up the tires they sit in your inventory until you select them, aim them at a car, then apply the mod to that vehicle.

Gord is a spooky new city builder with Witcher vibes

Gord is a new dark fantasy adventure game coming to PC in 2022, with elements of city building, survival, and strategy games, all wrapped in spooky Slavic folklore. And if you get any dark Witcher or Frostpunk vibes from the game’s debut trailer, there’s a good reason for that: Gord is the debut title from Covenant, a new Polish game studio founded by former CD Projekt Red and 11 bit studios producer Stan Just.

In Gord, players are tasked with growing their settlement, protecting their citizens from enemy tribes and monsters, and venturing out on quests. Players will have to hunt down legendary creatures, including giant spiders and other grotesqueries, on AI-powered quests in the game’s single-player narrative. They’ll also have to manage the sanity and mental burden of their fellow adventurers and citizens. To protect themselves, players will have spells and incantations at their disposal to fend off the powers of darkness.

Valorant’s latest patch brings changes to Astra and Raze

Astra’s getting a little extra utility in Valorant’s latest patch. The patch also includes a slight nerf for Raze, a fix for a strange Viper bug, and a few nice quality-of-life upgrades for everyone.

The biggest change this patch goes to Astra, whose Gravity Well ability now pulls players even when they’re diffusing the Spike. While this may seem like a pretty minor change, it’s actually more useful than you might think. If Astra pulls a player out of defusal range, the defuse is stopped. This makes the Gravity Well a spectacular way to defend the bomb site after the Spike has been planted and should make her one of the best post-plant characters in the game.
