These Pokémon just got buffs and nerfs in Pokémon Go

An update is going live for Pokémon Go that sees changes to several Pokémon’s combat power. In a blog post, the team at Niantic explained that the adjustments “will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in gyms.” Failing to name Pokémon other than Alakazam, Gengar and Rhydon affected by the combat power shifts, members of the self-proclaimed research group The Silph Road have begun to fill in the gaps by detailing every Pokémon that’s now stronger or weaker than before.

There are more Pokémon getting an increase in CP than those who are seeing a decrease.whose combat power has seen an increase is longer than those who are the other way around. On the buffed list are favorites like Alakazam, Aerodactyl, Chansey, Charizard, Dugtrio, Electabuzz, Flareon, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Gengar, Golem, Gyarados, Jolteon, Machamp, Muk, Onix, Pinsir, Primeape, Raichu, Rapidash, Raticate, Rhydon, Sandslash, Seadra, Scyther, Snorlax, Starmie, Tentacruel and Vaporeon.

Super Smash Bros. Melee celebrates 15 years of Nintendo characters pounding on each other

Super Smash Bros. Melee, above any other entry in Nintendo’s crossover fighting series, has endured. It’s still a fixture of major esports tournaments, like Evo and DreamHack, despite there being two newer entries in the series. Players worldwide remain devoted to the GameCube game since its fall 2001 launch.

More than Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and the N64 Super Smash Bros., there’s a rhythm and art to Melee that continues to attract players of all skill levels. The best way to understand that, and the game’s long-lasting appeal, is obvious: by watching really talented people play the game.

Resident Evil 7’s $179.99 collector’s edition comes with a mansion

Capcom’s collector’s edition version of Resident Evil 7 biohazard comes with its very own residence. The company announced a $179.99 deluxe edition of next year’s survival horror game which includes an eight-inch replica of Resident Evil 7’s creepy Louisiana plantation mansion which doubles as a music box.

Resident Evil 7’s collector’s edition will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. In addition to a copy of the game and the mansion music box — which plays a sample of the game’s version of “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” — the collector’s edition version will include a 4 GB USB drive in the shape of the game’s mysterious dummy finger, an exclusive SteelBook metal case, a VHS tape box, a lithograph featuring the Baker family and a “creepy note.”

Pokémon Sun and Moon players discover the key — and shortcut — to Pokémon’s happiness

Pokémon, like all beings, just want to be happy. Sun and Moon players have found a quick and easy way to increase their monsters’ happiness, making certain ones way easier to evolve.

Pokémon like Pichu, Munchlax and Eevee require a high level of affection for their trainers before they can turn into Pikachu, Snorlax, Espeon or Umbreon, respectively. A trick making the rounds on Reddit stands to do just that in less time than usual. Here are the steps, courtesy of user Leafeon111:

Controversial Pokémon, Metroid fan games removed from The Game Awards ballot

Two games inspired by Nintendo properties are no longer eligible for this year’s The Game Awards, despite their inclusion on the ballot earlier this week. NeoGAF posters spotted that Pokémon Uranium and Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R) have disappeared from the nominees for “Best Fan Creation,” and the event’s organizers haven’t provided a reason for the change.

Pokémon Uranium and AM2R both courted controversy earlier this year as Nintendo cracked down on unlicensed projects that used its intellectual property. AM2R, an ambitious revamp of Metroid 2: The Return of Samus, launched over the summer after years in the making, only for Nintendo to squash the free download just weeks after release. The company cited copyright claims, which it would give as the reason for shutting down numerous other unauthorized fan projects in subsequent weeks.

Uncharted 4 getting wave-based survival mode next month

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End developer Naughty Dog is adding a wave-based “horde”-style mode to the game’s multiplayer component called Uncharted 4: Survival, the studio announced today.

Let’s get this out of the way first: Thankfully, the “survival” name applies to the nature of the mode, not to creatures like zombies within it. (Well, not for the most part.) You’ll be facing off against human enemies in Survival mode, including standard Shoreline mercenaries and tougher foes such as snipers, “brutes” and “hunters.”

Pokémon Sun and Moon let you high-five your precious baby Pokémon

Pokémon Sun and Moon include several adorable new monsters, from the starters to the Pikachu-miming, sad baby ghost Mimikyu. But as players have discovered since last Friday’s launch, the games go even further with the cuteness by introducing a sweet and simple high-five mechanic.

The Pokémon Refresh feature encourages trainers and Pokémon to bond through petting, feeding and some casual play. That includes the exceedingly adorable high-five, which is triggered with a player taps the screen with their stylus right above a willing Pokémon’s head.

Prepare for Final Fantasy 15 leaks, director warns

Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy 15 today, with just eight days to go until the game’s official release on Nov. 29. Alongside the video, which takes fans through “everything [they] need to know about Final Fantasy 15,” director Hajime Tabata detailed the free day-one patch that will arrive on launch day — as well as forewarned players of early copies already making the rounds.

“Unfortunately, there has been an unauthorized distribution of the boxed edition of [Final Fantasy 15] in select regions and we have noticed that gameplay footage from people playing these copies has appeared online,” Tabata said in a press release. “Though this type of situation is brought on by various region specific circumstances and may not be something that is completely avoidable, we are very regretful of this situation.”
