Battlegrounds is the new survival shooter blowing up on Twitch

At first glance, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds seems like just another entry in the already crowded survival shooter genre. Thing is, the man behind it already perfected its most entertaining variant, the so-called “battle royale.” Battlegrounds is his first attempt at a standalone game.

So far, it’s going pretty well. Today is Battlegrounds’ launch day, and it’s already the third most popular game on Twitch. That means there are more people watching it being played than are watching Mass Effect: Andromeda, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch or the last game he consulted on — a little title called H1Z1.

Wonder Boy 3 remake adds something new: Wonder Girl

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, the remake of Sega and Westone’s side-scrolling action-platformer Wonder Boy 3, is more than just a very stylish coat of paint on an 8-bit classic. It will also introduce another playable character, Wonder Girl.

Ben Fiquet, art director at developer Lizardcube, revealed Wonder Girl’s inclusion in The Dragon’s Trap in a post on the PlayStation Blog. While Fiquet didn’t go into much detail about the option to play as Wonder Girl, a new trailer for the game shows that she appears functionally the same as Wonder Boy. The developer even made an 8-bit sprite of Wonder Girl for the game’s retro mode, which uses the original game’s pixel art.

Red Dead Redemption publisher Rockstar Games will probably never port the open-world Western to PC, but some modders have been undertaking that herculean task themselves using another Rockstar title: Grand Theft Auto 5.

The modders, who call themselves .White Team, unveiled the project last week on GTA Forums. They’ve dubbed it Red Dead Redemption V, a combination of the titles of the two games, and are developing it as a mod for GTA 5.

Nintendo: Left Joy-Con issue has been fixed on future Switch consoles

Nintendo says it has fixed the connectivity issue some Switch owners are experiencing on the left Joy-Con controller, and said the problem will not appear in future consoles that make it into consumer’s hands.

The company provided this information in a written statement to Polygon, where it also said there was never “a design issue” with Joy-Con controllers. It described the well-documented issues of the left Joy-Con losing connectivity — first reported on early hardware reviews — as “a manufacturing variation.”
