The latest trailer for Sonic Mania goes back to Flying Battery Zone, this time with a closer look at Knuckles negotiating his way through a remixed edition of Dr. Eggman's giant airship.

The last look at the throwback 2D platformer also visited Flying Battery Zone, which appeared previously in Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. That video was a 30-second teaser, the same day Sega announced the delay of Sonic Mania to a Summer launch window.

Anyone who ever played MLB The Show 17 between March 28 and May 11 found themselves gifted with 10 standard packs of cards in Diamond Dynasty, the game's collection/fantasy sports mode, and 11,000 "stubs." Stubs are virtual currency that can buy additional items in Diamond Dynasty, or improve players in the Road to the Show mode or teams in Franchise mode.

Haemimont Games, independent developers of the totalitarian city-building series Tropico, have announced their next project. Surviving Mars is described as a “management strategy game” and will be published by Paradox Interactive. Like Tropico 5, the game is destined for multiple platforms including Linux, Mac and Windows PC as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

“The new game challenges players to plan and build a functioning colony on Mars,” said Paradox in a press release, “balancing inhabitants’ basic survival needs with sanity and quality of life, all while dealing with the hostile environment of the red planet.”

Jon Shafer, designer of classic strategy game Sid Meier’s Civilization 5, has joined Paradox Development Studio. In a press release issued this morning, Paradox did not state what specific project he would be working on.

The news comes alongside word of expansion at Paradox. The Swedish developer, best known for grand strategy series such as Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis and Hearts of Iron, is looking for “experienced programmers and other roles to join Shafer’s team.”

Adored by some, overlooked by others, Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake will vanish from Steam and the Xbox Games Store on May 16 due to a music licensing issue, an official with the developer tells Polygon.

The licensing for the music, a compelling element of the game in the way it helped to wrap chapters of the title, expires on May 15, said Thomas Puha, head of communications for Remedy.

BattleTech, the latest entry in the classic mech-based strategy series that made more than $2 million on Kickstarter last fall, has found a publisher in Paradox Interactive. Developer Harebrained Schemes announced the partnership in its latest update for campaign backers, alongside a new release date for the game’s first beta.

“Paradox will provide marketing support, localization services, and funds for additional testing in exchange for a cut of the game’s sales,” the development team wrote on Kickstarter. “This allows us to focus all our efforts on making a great game while maintaining complete creative control.”

Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, having led the New England Patriots to five Super Bowl titles. In Super Bowl LI this past February, his team erased a 25-point deficit en route to a 34-28 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Brady has played in seven Super Bowls in all; his only two losses, in 2007 and 2011, have both come at the hands of Eli Manning and the New York Giants.

Two music video game veterans, NanaOn-Sha’s Masaya Matsuura and iNiS’ Keiichi Yano, are teaming up for a new story-driven rhythm action adventure game currently titled Project Rap Rabbit.

Matsuura is best known for his work on PlayStation music games PaRappa the Rapper and Vib-Ribbon. Yano’s work includes Gitaroo Man, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents. Both have a long history of developing a wide variety of music games that also includes titles like the Lips karaoke game series for Xbox and Major Minor’s Majestic March, an unusual band marching game for Wii.
