Grasshopper returns to The Silver Case with 25th Ward remake

Grasshopper Manufacture is working on a remake of its episodic sequel to the company’s debut game, The Silver Case, the developer announced this weekend. The 25th Ward: The Silver Case is officially going into production, according to Grasshopper.

Outside of the announcement and a teaser trailer, Grasshopper didn’t provide much in the way of specifics. In an interview with Famitsu, Grasshopper founder and CEO Goichi Suda said The 25th Ward: The Silver Case, which is coming to Windows PC, will be more of a remake than a remaster.

Destiny 2 developer Bungie finally lifted the lid on the game this past Thursday, seven weeks after officially announcing it with a CG trailer. In an hourlong livestream, the studio provided a good deal of information on Destiny 2’s campaign and Crucible.

Of course, plenty of questions remain. But here’s a recap of what we learned about Destiny 2 this week.

Its been a pretty slow week for deals, but we managed to find some that we’re super excited about — including discounts on Prey and Dishonored 2. And while this is technically not a deal, Uniqlo’s Nintendo collection just launched and the t-shirts are pretty sweet. In fact, many of us at Polygon already picked some up, like this alphabet graphic tee.

How to bet the Preakness, according to a video game

If you're just getting your money down for today's 142nd Preakness Stakes, believe it or not, a video game maker has a prediction. Just like the major team sports, the plucky Photo Finish Racing has gotten thoroughbred horse racing's Triple Crown into the action.

The mobile horse racing game hit two weeks ago at Churchill Downs when its creators, including the former Madden creative director Ian Cummings, correctly predicted victory for Always Dreaming, one of the two favorites in the Kentucky Derby. So, here's the call for the Preakness: Classic Empire to win, Gunnevera to place and Always Dreaming to show.

Overwatch animated shorts are coming back for ‘season two’

It’s been a long time since Blizzard Entertainment released an animated short set in the Overwatch universe. Rest assured that the team hasn’t abandoned the medium, director Jeff Kaplan said during a New York City press event this week: More shorts are currently in the works.

“The animated shorts are probably the thing that we have the most fun making,” he explained. “We really love working with our animation group and digging out the stories not tied to any constraints of gameplay — we can tell any stories we want.

Fire Emblem Echoes team: 'It's a new experience, not an old game'

Hardcore Fire Emblem fans know that the series’ new game on Nintendo 3DS, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, isn’t technically new at all. But the directors of the game, a remake of a Japan-exclusive Famicom title, are adamant that Western players will appreciate Shadows of Valentia as something fresh.

A big reason for that — besides the fact that the original game, Fire Emblem Gaiden, never made it stateside — is the amount that Shadows of Valentia deviates from the recognizable Fire Emblem formula.

Destiny 2 will open up high-level raids to everyone, here’s how

One of the most unusual features of the original Destiny was that it lacked a matchmaking system for high-level content, like raids and nightfall missions. With Destiny 2, Bungie hopes to open up end-game experiences to more players than ever before with a novel “guided games” system. Here’s how it works.

In Destiny, the only way to get into high-level raids was to gather your friends together online and jump into a game together as a party. But getting six skilled players together at the same time is a challenge, so much so says Bungie that only 50 percent of the player base even attempted Destiny’s end-game content.

Blizzard teases new Overwatch skins, maps and more

Blizzard Entertainment will celebrate Overwatch’s first birthday next week with an in-game event that adds new maps, cosmetic items and more. Blizzard announced Overwatch’s Anniversary event earlier this week, but didn’t offer much in the way of specifics. Since then, the developer has been steadily teasing some of the new additions on its various social media channels.

Perhaps the most enticing new additions to the game are Overwatch’s Anniversary skins. On Overwatch’s Chinese-language Facebook page, the developer teased new skins for characters Bastion, Pharah, Soldier: 76 and Zarya.
