Far Cry 5 teaser welcomes you to Montana

Far Cry 5’s first teaser trailer, released today by publisher Ubisoft, sets a scene of idyllic American beauty — or so it seems.

The 42-second teaser gives us a few glimpses of the backdrop for Far Cry 5, although all of it appears to be live-action footage as opposed to cutscenes or gameplay. It confirms the game’s setting as Montana, the fourth-largest state in the Union, in the fictional Hope County.

New Dragon Age game in development, BioWare writer says

BioWare is working on a new entry in the Dragon Age franchise, a writer on the unannounced project said in a recent interview with Eurogamer.

Alexis Kennedy, co-founder of Sunless Sea developer Failbetter Games, left the studio a year ago to become a freelance video game writer, and announced in early September that BioWare had hired him as its first-ever guest writer. Kennedy said at the time that he was working on “a significant piece of content,” but couldn’t provide further details. The studio hasn’t exactly been trying to keep his work secret, though — Kennedy pointed out to Eurogamer that Mark Darrah, the series’ executive producer, said “welcome to Dragon Age” earlier this year in a tweet about Kennedy.

Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Tom Holland to play young Nathan Drake in Uncharted movie

Tom Holland will trade a Spider-Man suit for khakis in Shawn Levy’s upcoming live-action Uncharted film, reports Deadline.

Holland, 20, will play a young version of Nathan Drake, the series’ protagonist. Deadline is also reporting that the film will be a prequel focusing entirely on Drake’s youth, including how he met the rogue treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan. The idea is based on a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, but the decision to focus on a younger version of the character came from Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman, according to Deadline.

It sounds like the Switch version will take full advantage of the hardware’s capabilities, however. Bandai Namco said on Twitter that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for Switch will feature ad-hoc multiplayer, motion controls and two-player battles on one system, with each player getting their own Joy Con controller.

The week’s best gaming deals: Discounts on Prey, Dishonored 2, and more

Its been a pretty slow week for deals, but we managed to find some that we’re super excited about — including discounts on Prey and Dishonored 2. And while this is technically not a deal, Uniqlo’s Nintendo collection just launched and the t-shirts are pretty sweet. In fact, many of us at Polygon already picked some up, like this alphabet graphic tee.

How to bet the Preakness, according to a video game

If you're just getting your money down for today's 142nd Preakness Stakes, believe it or not, a video game maker has a prediction. Just like the major team sports, the plucky Photo Finish Racing has gotten thoroughbred horse racing's Triple Crown into the action.

The mobile horse racing game hit two weeks ago at Churchill Downs when its creators, including the former Madden creative director Ian Cummings, correctly predicted victory for Always Dreaming, one of the two favorites in the Kentucky Derby. So, here's the call for the Preakness: Classic Empire to win, Gunnevera to place and Always Dreaming to show.
