One of the best-looking indie games Microsoft showed off at its E3 2017 press briefing was The Last Night from tiny studio Odd Tales, a side-scrolling action/adventure game that appears to be heavily inspired by Blade Runner.

A product of the inaugural #cyberpunkjam three years ago, The Last Night has been out of the spotlight for a while now. Publisher Raw Fury describes its setting as “post-cyberpunk”:

Cuphead launches this September

Cuphead will launch Sept. 29 on both Windows 10 and Xbox One. Microsoft announced the release date for long-awaited indie game, which is inspired by old Disney and Max Fleischer cartoons, during its E3 2017 press conference.

The game will cost $19.99 at launch, according to its store listing. It will be compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing for crossplay on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Sea of Thieves, the action-adventure multiplayer game about adorable seafaring pirates, finally has a release window. It will be available to play in early 2018. It will be available to play on the Xbox One and Windows PC.

During Microsoft’s presentation, gameplay footage demonstrating a couple of pirates diving under water to find treasure trapped on a sunken ship. Players must work together to ensure that they can get enough of the treasure without being killed by nefarious sea creatures. After emerging from the water, players will head to a local island where they’ll have a chance to explore “claustrophobic caves” and look for even more loot. In order to keep the loot in their possession, players will have to battle against a series of skeletons on sandy beaches while also contending with less than ideal weather situations. The loot collected can then be traded in at tiny outposts for money.

The Artful Escape is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10, Microsoft announced during its E3 2017 press conference today.

The game, developed by studio Beethoven and Dinosaur, will feature Xbox One X enhancements when it launches for the console, although the trailer didn’t include a release date. Instead, expect The Artful Escape to launch “when it’s damn ready,” according to the teaser.

Minecraft players, no matter the device, will soon be able to play together, Mojang announced during Xbox briefing during E3 2017.

The company is set to introduce in-game servers allowing players to access one another as well as third-party content from a simple menu. Currently, server access requires complicated log-in procedures. New servers will go online from four partners: Lifeboat, InPvP, Mineplex and CubeCraft.

Similar to the Guilty Gear franchise, Dragon Ball FighterZ will feature three-versus-three fights starring myriad characters from the franchise. In its debut trailer, we saw familiar heroes like Goku, Vegeta and Trunks, as well as plenty of the classic villain Majin Buu. Its art style hews closely to the massively popular anime for what could be the most attractive Dragon Ball-related game we’ve seen yet.

Deep Rock Galactic, a stylized space adventure from Ghost Ship Games, is coming exclusively to Xbox One this year. The game was shown on stage at Microsoft's E3 2017 keynote.

Deep Rock Galactic was originally announced for an Early Access launch on Steam sometime this year. In the game, the player will control members of an elite unit of mercenary miners who must fight, dig and explore through huge cave systems to recover anything valuable inside and make it out alive.

Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, the multiplayer battle royale game that has been a phenomenal success on Windows PC, is coming exclusively to Xbox One “later this year,” developer Bluehole announced today during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press briefing.

Brendan Greene — the man behind the Playerunknown handle — came out on stage to announce the Xbox One port. He added that the final version of the game will include an update with “enhancements” for the Xbox One X, the final name of the device codenamed Project Scorpio. The enhancements include support for 4K resolution; you can see a 4K trailer for the Xbox One version above.

4A Games took the stage at Microsoft’s E3 2017 media briefing to reveal Metro: Exodus, a return to its popular post-apocalyptic shooter series.

The reveal trailer showed off a dilapidated underground setting, makeshift weaponry and giant mutated rat and bear creatures — all elements that will be familiar to fans of the previous two games in the series. But it also included a moment of surprising beauty, where the main character looked out over an abandoned town and the wilderness surrounding it.
