Twitch’s newest hot tub streamers are adorable otters

On Friday, Twitch announced a new category for people who stream while wearing swimsuits called Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches. And while sure, many of the swimsuit-clad streamers can be found in the recent category, a new kind of content creator has started to exploit the hot tub meta: adorable rescued otters.

The Marine Mammal Rescue Centre in Vancouver, and four of its rescued otters, technically have their livestream within the hot tub category. If you watch the stream, you’ll see they do all sorts of cute stuff like splash around, flip underwater, and gnaw on their toys. If they’re not active they might also chill by floating on their backs. They all just do their own little otter thing.

Victoria 3’s announcement ends a decade of grand strategy memeing

Victoria 3, a sequel so long-awaited by its fans the title has become a meme, is in development and coming soon. The grand strategy title was a keynote reveal of this weekend’s PDXCon, the annual gathering for all things Paradox Interactive.

Paradox’s Victoria series is a “society simulation” set in Great Britain during the time surrounding the industrial revolution. The most recent title was 2010’s Victoria 2 for PC. In the decade since, Victoria fans had beaten news or rumor of a sequel into a meme somewhat like the well-known Half-Life 3 meme.

Warhammer Plus streaming service will come with tons of animated content

Warhammer Plus is a new streaming service from Games Workshop, publisher of tabletop games in settings such as Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. It will be loaded with animated series from the British company’s flagship science-fiction universe, as well as the Warhammer Fantasy universe. There are 11 titles announced so far, with standouts such as Astartes 2, Altar of Wrath, Interrogator, and Blacktalon.

Games Workshop teased part of this project back in March when it announced just a few titles from the launch lineup. Games Workshop has spent the last few years courting fan artists such as Richard Boylan and Syama Pedersen, who had created high-profile YouTube series independently. Now those creators are forming the core of the company’s attempt to participate in the streaming wars.

Report: Team Ninja making a Final Fantasy ‘Souls-like’ action game

Nioh and Ninja Gaiden developer Team Ninja is developing a new Final Fantasy spinoff action game for Square Enix, according to a report from Fanbyte. That game, reportedly titled Final Fantasy Origin, is expected to be announced in June in conjunction with E3 2021. Square Enix is confirmed to appear at this year’s E3.

Fanbyte’s report follows a series of rumors regarding Final Fantasy Origin, which has been compared to FromSoftware’s Dark Souls series and Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The Final Fantasy spinoff is said to be “more accessible [than Nioh] for a wider audience” and set during the events of the first game in the franchise. Origin is reportedly bound for PlayStation 5, with a Windows PC version coming later.

Crusader Kings 3’s first expansion lets you hang out with a bear

Crusader Kings 3’s first major expansion is coming soon, and it’s all about your seat of power. Royal Court allows medieval rulers to hang out in a 3D throne room, meet with their courtiers, and hire bards to sing epic tales.

Royal Court fleshes out one of Crusader Kings 3’s most intriguing elements — managing your home base. Players have to deal with unruly vassals and rebellions, hold feasts, seduce lords, and ferret out secrets. Sometimes, the stories that take place in the player’s own royal hall are far more compelling than anything that happens over foreign borders.
