Mass Effect’s Normandy is now in No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky players found a surprising Easter egg at the end of a recently added Expedition in the sandbox space game: the SSV Normandy SR-1 from Mass Effect. Developer Hello Games says it collaborated with Electronic Arts and BioWare — which recently released the Mass Effect Legendary Edition remaster of the original trilogy — to bring the Normandy to No Man’s Sky.

Players can unlock (and keep) the Normandy in No Man’s Sky through May 31 by completing the game’s latest Expedition. Hello Games says Shepard’s ship will remain a permanent fixture in players’ frigate fleets, if they so choose. You can see the Normandy in action in the trailer above.

Necromunda: Hired Gun is chock-full of upgrade trees

Necromunda: Hired Gun is chock-full of upgrade trees

Necromunda: Hired Gun takes place in the Warhammer 40K universe, but it’s far removed from the central high stakes wars of the setting. Instead, you hangout in the criminal hub city of a Necromunda hive city as a bounty hunter, looking for contracts. You also have a dog, so that’s nice.

Hired Gun is a fast and frantic first person shooter. The protagonist gets around with a grappling hook and wall sliding powers. Over time, players grow more powerful due to weapon enhancements and mods. A new trailer shows off the dog, which is always appreciated, but it also gives a much closer look at what the RPG elements in Necromunda look like.

Bungie to disable everyone’s favorite new Exotic for Vault of Glass

The original Destiny raid, Vault of Glass, is about to make its grand entrance into Destiny 2. On Saturday, Destiny 2 fans will compete in a new world first race for the new version of Vault of Glass. This includes an altered version of the World First Contest mode, where Bungie boosts up the raid difficulty for the first 24 hours. But while Contest is on, everyone’s new favorite Hunter Exotic won’t be available. Bungie is disabling the Star-Eater Scales for 24 hours.

The Star-Eater Scales Hunter Exotic pants are extremely powerful. Added in Season of the Splicer, the new pants cause Hunters to gain more Super energy when they pick up an Orb of Power. Even better, picking up additional Orbs empowers the Hunter’s Super, making it even stronger.

Overwatch 2 map includes Easter egg tributes to Jeff Kaplan

Former Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan may have left Blizzard Entertainment, but his legacy — specifically, a goof about his name — will live on in Overwatch 2. During a gameplay livestream of Overwatch 2 on Thursday, new game director Aaron Kaplan, lead hero designer Geoff Goodman, and associate art director Dion Rogers showed off multiple maps coming to the hero shooter, including New York, Toronto, Rome, and Monte Carlo.

Overwatch’s New York map will include not one, but two tributes to Kaplan — he got his Master from NYU, by the way — including a rather dreary looking pizza place named Jephs Corner Pizza.

Overwatch 2 is changing to a 5v5 game

Big changes are coming for Overwatch 2, starting with a substantial alteration to the hero shooter’s player-versus-player mode. For Overwatch 2, Blizzard will switch PvP from two teams of six — the current player count in Overwatch — to two teams of five. That’s right, the game that’s been a 6v6 battle for the past five years will change to 5v5.

Overwatch game director Aaron Keller announced the change during a livestream on Thursday. Keller announced that the new team composition for Overwatch 2 will consist of two damage heroes, two support heroes, and one tank. Keller explained that “tanks can be problematic” and “noisy.” He added that Blizzard has “always tried to make our combat easy to read and understandable — sometimes it’s just hard to track what 11 other players are doing on the battlefield.”

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s accessibility options are incredibly extensive

Insomniac Games detailed Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s extensive accessibility settings on Thursday. The studio went over the PlayStation 5 game’s entire options slate, showing off features that will help even more players experience the inter-dimensional romp.

Accessibility has been a growing focus for Sony and its first-party studios in recent years. The Last of Us Part 2 boasted some of the industry’s most extensive accessibility features to date, and Insomniac’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales also had suite of impressive features. Other games, including Bend Studio’s Days Gone, have received additional accessibility support post-launch. Insomniac’s latest entry in the beloved Ratchet & Clank series is looking to carry that torch and building a foundation for increased accessibility options in the future.

This new game is all about old people beating ass

Just Die Already is a new game from the designers of Goat Simulator, and it’s a similarly wacky sandbox experience. Players take control of an older person who’s been kicked out of their retirement home, and they’re now on the streets. That’s a pretty depressing game premise, but when you look at the concept in action, it’s all about going wild.

While players have unlimited freedom to steal cars and flamethrowers, they’re also relatively fragile. Luckily, you’re also able to sustain heavy damage. One player review reads: “Instructions unclear, now a rolling torso in heavy traffic.”
