Destiny 2 players can contribute to the Houston recovery

The team at Bungie are surely focused on tonight’s launch of Destiny 2, but they’re also making time to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Just a few days ago, Bungie created a listing for a commemorative pin at the Bungie Store. The $14.99 physical item, which features three red enamel hearts with silver trim, includes a code for a special in-game emblem that can be displayed on players’ profiles. All proceeds benefit Direct Relief, a non-profit on the ground helping victims of the disaster in Texas.

Where’s my Sparrow in Destiny 2?

Where’s my Sparrow in Destiny 2?

Destiny players were attached at the hip to their trusty Sparrows, the jet-fueled hovercraft that allowed Guardians to zoom across the game’s planets and moons. But while the patrol areas of Destiny 2’s worlds are generally comparable in size to those in the original game, it’s going to take way longer to traverse them, because you won’t have a vehicle.

Yes, Sparrows do exist in Destiny 2. But they’re not readily available; there’s no easy way to go out and get one. In the original Destiny, Guardians received a Sparrow as a matter of course: A basic one was given to the player during “The Warmind,” the game’s fourth campaign mission. Hell, Bungie eventually added an entire mode to the game just for Sparrow racing.

American McGee is still talking about a third Alice game

American McGee is once again hoping to return to the Alice series of games, but EA has yet to agree to finance or even greenlight a third game. While it was his name used on American McGee’s Alice, EA has always controlled the franchise.

“Fresh off the success of “Out of the Woods” on Kickstarter American McGee will start work on a proposal for the next chapter in Alice’s adventures, tentatively titled Alice: Asylum,” McGee wrote on his blog. “This proposal will include artwork, design outline, and financial/business model. When this proposal is finished (and assuming all the numbers and constraints make sense) it’ll be sent to EA.”

Star Fox 2’s manual is online, and it’s really cute

Nintendo has posted the manual for Star Fox 2 online. And it’s a nice piece of design, giving an updated feel to the classic manuals of the Super Nintendo era.

Star Fox 2 is getting its first official release with the launch of the Super Nintendo Classic Edition on Sept. 29. The mini hardware device comes with 20 games previously released for the SNES in the 1990s, as well as Star Fox 2, which was completed in 1995, but never released due to the arrival of the Nintendo 64.

The Good Life, Swery’s cat RPG-murder mystery, opens for crowdfunding

The Good Life, a combination small-town role-playing game, photography simulator and murder mystery from quirky designer Swery, is now open for funding on Fig. First revealed earlier this month, the trailer above gives us as deeper look at the curious crowdfunding project.

With a $1.5 million funding goal, The Good Life sounds like an ambitious debut project from Swery’s new studio, White Owls. The proposed console and PC game stars a photographer named Naomi, a New York City transplant who heads to the English countryside in order to pay back a debt. That drives one of the game’s primary mechanics, debt repayment, which involves Naomi taking on small jobs for clients around town in order to make some cash.

That takes him from the home pitch of the Los Angeles Chargers to the Bundesliga and Brazil.
