Polygon is hiring a video producer for our Guides team

The job postings just don’t stop here at Polygon. We’re looking for a talented person to join our video team, focusing on creating videos for our growing Guides section. Check out that job post here.

The right person will be able to capture gameplay, edit video, write scripts and participate in livestreams. You’ll be responsible for turning some of the most tricky moments, challenging fetch quest strings or hidden secrets into videos, which will live on this site and Polygon’s YouTube channel. We’re looking for someone who can figure out where people might need help in a game — whether that’s finding the last 10 Breath of the Wild shrines or getting raid-ready for Destiny 2 — and explaining what they need to know. You’ll also be responsible for some posting on Polygon, so knowing how to string a sentence together is important, too.

Destiny 2 servers down for maintenance today

Servers for both Destiny and Destiny 2 are currently offline for maintenance, with a period of downtime that’s planned to last for four hours, according to Bungie’s support site.

The maintenance window began at 7 a.m. PT, at which point players were no longer able to log in to Destiny’s servers. If they were playing at the time, though, they can stay online until 8 a.m. PT, when “all online players will be removed from Destiny.” Bungie is aiming to complete the maintenance and bring both games’ servers back online by 11 a.m. PT.

Nintendo Switch has NES emulator and a copy of Golf, say data miners

It’s hard to say for sure — I cannot replicate this myself — but modders say they have found an emulator within the Nintendo Switch and a copy of all-time NES great Golf installed on it.

This is less about the game and more about the larger meaning. An emulator on every Switch would be a rather big deal. Moreover, as SwitchBrew.org noticed, this game packs instructions specific for the Joy-Con controllers, at least according to the images they supplied.

Call of Duty WWII beta comes to PC at the end of September

Call of Duty: WWII will stage an open beta for all PC gamers from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, Sledgehammer Games announced on Thursday. There’s no obligation to preorder the game, as was the case in the console beta that wrapped up earlier this month.

“The PC Open Beta is just a small part of the full Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer experience coming to Steam in November,” Sledgehammer Games wrote. “This test is a critical step on our road to delivering the best possible online experience on Steam at launch in November.”

Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine is worth playing for the badass intro alone

Destiny 2’s weekend player-versus-player event, Trials of the Nine, is now live, and the best thing about it so far is the spectacular way in which it introduces the competitors to each other.

For the uninitiated, Trials of the Nine is Destiny 2’s replacement for the original Destiny’s Trials of Osiris. Available only on weekends for 72 hours — from 10 a.m. PT on Fridays until the same time on Mondays — Trials of Osiris was a high-stakes three-on-three elimination mode in which teams attempted to win nine matches before they lost three.
