What’s leaving Netflix, Hulu and HBO Go in November

November is the formal beginning of the Netflix-and-chill season or, as they call it here in Chicagoland, cuffing season. That means you have the weekend to find a player-two for wintry binge watching. In the meantime, here’s everything leaving your favorite streaming services in November. If you’ve been meaning to check out The Matrix in HD on Netflix, Independence Day on HBO Go, or simply wanted to catch up on vintage Thomas the Tank Engine Christmas specials, time is of the essence.

Wolfenstein 3D returns with a twist in Wolfenstein 2

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus lets players experience a fully-featured version of Wolfenstein 3D within the game itself, although there’s a bit of an alternate history twist: You play as the bad guys.

In Wolfenstein 2, B.J. Blazkowicz and his fellow Kreisau Circle resistance fighters have set up base in a captured Nazi U-Boat. They’ve filled it with all the comforts of home: art, music, alcohol and yup — games.

Assassin's Creed Origins pre-review

I spent last week playing Assassin's Creed Origins, and brought back some footage of early quests. My review goes live on Thursday, but in the meantime, I just wanted to share some early impressions about the scale of this game, and the detail of its world, via the video above.

Set in ancient Egypt, Assassin's Creed Origins follows Bayek as he takes out soldiers and agents of a corrupt regime. It's a story of political intrigue, but also of ordinary people struggling against tyranny and corruption.

Switch support for GameCube controllers reignites Virtual Console, Smash Bros. hopes

The version 4.0.0 update for Nintendo Switch added a lot of surprising things, and chief among those is GameCube controller support. We can now hook up the GameCube controller adapter for Wii U to our Switch consoles to use the fan-favorite peripheral — which is now compatible with four straight Nintendo home consoles in a row, it should be said. And where there’s a console that supports the GameCube controller, you better believe there’s a mass of people hoping that this means Virtual Console or Super Smash Bros. news is on the way.

Last December, reports swirled that the Switch would introduce GameCube games to the Virtual Console library. Nintendo’s 2001 console continues to be a favorite, thanks to games like Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Smash Bros. for GameCube is still huge in fighting game circles, and the GameCube controller is the preferred way to play it and its sequels — which is why there’s a GameCube controller adapter for Wii U in the first place.

SNES Classic will be available at Toys R Us this Friday

If you couldn’t get your hands on a SNES Classic when it first launched last month, you’ll get another chance at the end of the week.

A Toys R Us spokesperson confirmed to Polygon that the retailer will have shipments of Nintendo’s shrunken-down console available this Friday, Oct. 27. Additional SNES Classic stock will be brought in alongside more Nintendo Switch consoles in preparation for Nintendo’s next big game, Super Mario Odyssey. The representative also confirmed that there will be a limited supply of SNES Classic systems, and encouraged people to prepare for early morning lineups to secure the hardware.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm brings back the series’ best goof

Life is Strange: Before the Storm’s second episode premiered last week, and it’s a touching slow burn of teen angst and romance. As sweet and sad as the series can be, though, it’s important to remember that it has a sense of humor, too. And “Brave New World” has a throwback to what is probably my favorite joke from the original Life is Strange.

(If you’re very spoiler-sensitive, here’s a spoiler warning for “Brave New World.”)
