Original Life is Strange actresses return for special episode

With the video game voice actors union no longer on strike, performers are able to return to the recording booth and resume some of their best known roles. Among the first to do so is Ashly Burch, the voice of Life is Strange’s Chloe Price, who will play the character one more time in an upcoming episode of the prequel series.

Square Enix announced that both Burch and actor Hannah Telle, the voice of Max Caulfield, will return for “Farewell,” the bonus episode included in Life is Strange: Before the Storm’s deluxe release. Both will launch early next year, and mark the reunion of two actors who were held back from the project due to the strike.

Arms update adds another new fighter: Springtron

Just two weeks after a big update for Nintendo Switch fighting game Arms that added a brand-new fighter comes yet another update that brings one more brawler to the roster. Well, sort of.

Nintendo released the version 4.1 update for Arms today, which lets players select a new fighter, Springtron. He’ll look familiar to Arms players, as he’s effectively a menacing version of Spring Man. Springtron and Spring Man share the same set of arms, so whatever players have unlocked for Spring Man, they’ll be able to use for Springtron.

The holidays have arrived in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’s first seasonal festivities went live today, Nov. 30. The nondenominational holiday event will run until just after Christmas, giving players new furniture to collect, winter-appropriate clothing to hunt down and, of course, tons of candy canes.

Until the event wraps at 12:59 a.m. on Dec. 26, players will serve as their own campground’s Santa Claus. Every player will receive a Santa hat in their mailbox when they first log in during the campaign, which they can then put on and use to start granting wishes for their animal friends (well, if you want to call them that). Upon completing item requests for potential campers, players will even receive candy canes for their trouble.

Destiny 2 now has Amazon Alexa voice commands

Destiny 2 now has hands-free voice command features thanks to Amazon’s Alexa personal assistant. A new “skill” for Amazon Alexa devices will let players who own an Alexa-compatible device issue voice commands to their Ghost to ask the little guy about Destiny lore, send messages to friends and equip items.

The Destiny 2 Ghost skill for Amazon Alexa devices is available for download now. The skill adds more than 1,000 custom voice lines (voiced by Nolan North), Amazon says, that can be initiated by asking “Alexa, ask Ghost...” or “Alexa, tell Ghost...” According to Amazon, players can ask lore-related questions like “Alexa, ask Ghost who are the Red Legion” or, for recommendations on in-game activities, “Alexa, ask Ghost what I should do next.”

Bungie details extensive plans for player-oriented Destiny 2 updates

Destiny 2 developer Bungie is working on a wide variety of changes to the game, many of which the studio is making specifically in response to player feedback. Bungie announced the details today in a lengthy blog post, “The State of Destiny 2,” in which design director Luke Smith and game director Christopher Barrett acknowledged that the studio needs to be more transparent and open up a dialogue with players.

“Our team has been reading feedback and working on updates to improve the game,” said Barrett and Smith. “We’ve also been reading some tough criticism about our lack of communication, and we agree we need to be more open.”

Final Fantasy 15 update will add character swapping

Square Enix will release an update for Final Fantasy 15 soon that will give players the ability to play the main game not just as Noctis, but as Ignis, Gladio and Prompto too.

During an “Active Time Report” stream broadcast earlier today, Square Enix celebrated Final Fantasy 15’s one-year anniversary and talked about what’s still to come. That includes the imminent release of a new character swap feature, which will let players switch between the four protagonists on the fly (with some restrictions, like the Leviathan battle, where you’ll have to play as Noctis).

Star Wars Battlefront 2 leak shows character customization options

A dataminer with a history of digging up Star Wars Battlefront leaks has found what appears to be a character customization menu within the PC version of the game.

The menu was discovered by a Redditor named uninspired_zebra, who apparently is combing through files in the PC version of the game. The menu is not currently accessible in Battlefront 2. But it shows a “Change Appearance” option in the Assault character class that allows the user to change their look across the game’s six factions, with different looks inside those categories.

EA’s stock price takes a beating, and analysts see change coming to loot boxes

A monthlong slide in Electronic Arts’ stock price, which mainstream financial press has attributed to the Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot box controversy, has caught the company’s attention, and is likely to spur changes to EA’s microtransactions approach.

But one prominent analyst says any changes won’t come imminently. And, it must be said, EA’s stock price today is still almost $25 above what it was a year ago.

December’s PlayStation Plus games end 2017 with Death and pandas

The final batch of games offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers this year includes Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition and, more importantly, Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends. It’s perhaps an unexciting way to end 2017, a year that was nothing if not ... exciting?

Both Darksiders 2 and Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends will be available for PlayStation 4 owners to download. Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition is a remaster of the 2012 original; the Deathinitive Edition was released on PS4 and Xbox One in 2015. Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends is a Smash Bros.-like fighting game in which four players duke it out as protagonist panda Po and all those other anthropomorphic animals you love from the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
