Kingdom Come: Deliverance is getting a massive day-one patch

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a role-playing game set in 15th century Bohemia that began life as a successful Kickstarter Campaign, is getting a massive, 23 GB day-one patch that makes changes to many aspects of the game. It launches tomorrow on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Day-one patches are not uncommon in this day and age of always-online PCs and consoles. What makes this one unusual is its size, which is far larger than other recent, comparable day-one patches that were criticized by players for being “huge.” For instance, 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had a 588 MB patch, while 2016’s No Man’s Sky had one around 824 MB.

Top Pokémon Go player gets EX Raid pass — with a big catch

Pokémon Go’s tweaked exclusive Raid battle system appears to have positive results for players thus far, with many reporting that they’ve received their first- or second-ever invitations to participate in the selective gym battles. One of those players is one of the game’s best-known personalities, who has publicly criticized the invite-only battles before — but his excitement at receiving an EX Raid pass came with a huge caveat.

Last Friday, big-time YouTuber Reversal uploaded a video about receiving an exclusive Raid pass, which the developer doles out to qualified trainers on a seemingly random basis. This was a big get for the player; he’s spoken before about needing to take a break from Pokémon Go after getting burned by the widely panned EX Raid invite system countless times before.

World record time in Wii Sports Resort Golf brings out the best of speedrunning

Wii Sports Resort Golf ordinarily wouldn’t be a top-of-mind game for thrilling speedruns — but it is to me now, in the details of the world record set last night by an up-and-comer to the competitive landscape.

First, congratulations to Alaskaxp2, who joined speedrun.com 8 months ago, set his first No. 1 time a month after that, and 10 more since across four Wii games. His 12:21.14 in golf last night took down a four-day old record set by Darbian, a very well known speedrunner who is the reigning (and two-time) record-holder for Super Mario Bros., any percent, and a competitor at Awesome Games Done Quick since 2015.
