Nintendo Black Friday deals include a Switch bundle, plus $20 discounts on select titles

Nintendo’s slate of Black Friday deals were announced on Monday, and include a Switch bundle and rare discounts on popular games starting Nov. 21. You’ll find them online at retailers like Amazon and Best Buy, and at local brick-and-mortar stores. The press release made no mention of availability issues, but you can expect consoles in particular to be hard to find this holiday as they have in years past.

The Nintendo Switch bundle available this holiday will include the standard console (not the new OLED version) with one red and one blue Joy-Con. It includes a digital download code for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a three-month individual membership for Nintendo Switch Online. Suggested retail price is $299.99.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker release delayed by two weeks

Final Fantasy 14 Online’s upcoming expansion, Endwalker, has been delayed by two weeks, due to small tweaks that need to be made for final quality assurance.

Early access will now begin for players who pre-order Endwalker on Dec. 3 instead of Nov. 19, and the game will officially release on Dec. 7 instead of Nov. 23. Because of this delay, patch 6.01 can now be expected to be released on Jan. 4, 2022 instead of Dec. 21.

The next Star Wars: The Old Republic expansion builds on a decade of tough choices

Sometimes, a role-playing game hits the player with a choice that is legitimately tough. It can be a moral quandary, or a question of what to sacrifice. Star Wars: The Old Republic is an MMO with a strong focus on narrative content, and so the game has many tough choices designed to make the protagonist sweat. While the galaxy’s politics can change over time, and new enemies appear or are vanquished, the core of the game remains making those tough choices.

The Old Republic developer BioWare Austin has been faithfully updating the game since it was first released in 2011. The next expansion, Legacy of the Sith, introduces new endgame content in which players chase down a rogue Sith Lord to the watery planet of Manaan. The expansion also includes lots of important changes in the early game. For example, new character creator options allow players to mix and match between their abilities, weapons, and stories they experience, instead of funneling down one of eight roads with stricter guardrails.

Konami’s atrocious eFootball won’t get a 1.0 launch until spring

Konami’s eFootball launch already blew up on the pad, and now, if possible, matters are even worse.

A title update to add the former Pro Evolution Soccer’s staple modes of play, like Master League and Be a Legend, now isn’t launching until spring 2022, Konami said Friday morning. Assuming that’s March, eFootball’s conversion to a free-to-play game will be stuck with game modes more befitting a demo, and a barebones roster of just nine teams, for its first six months.

The new Pro Camera has me falling in love with Animal Crossing all over again

For many fans, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about the little details. As players design their islands, it’s clear just how much care fans put into meticulously crafting these islands. Whether it’s bending the perspectives of visitors through carefully placed objects or custom-made items or incredibly detailed interior home decor, the creativity of players is seemingly bottomless.

Before the new 2.0 update launched Wednesday, we mainly got to see these worlds from the top down — each stunning island functioning as a little diorama, an encapsulation of island designers’ visions. Now, the new Pro Camera app — which you can unlock now — allows fans to take that appreciation to a whole other level, by giving players the chance to see from a first-person perspective.

Total War: Warhammer 3 is coming to Game Pass, launches Feb. 27

Total War: Warhammer 3 is the end of a big fantasy strategy trilogy on the PC, with six factions duking it out over big battlegrounds. We now know that the game is set to launch on Feb. 17, 2022, and it will be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC on day one.

The premise of the game is that an endless horde of daemons and monsters are pouring forth from the Realm of Chaos, which is bad news for everyone involved. The player takes control of the armies and lords fighting back Chaos, with some appealing options on display like the Cathay, a fantasy China analogue, and the Russia-inspired Kislev. It leads to fantastic looking battles, with armored bears and dragon lords taking on monsters in the teal-and-pink horror landscape of the Chaos Realms.

There’s a new FarmVille game with new crops and cute animals

The original FarmVille was a Facebook sensation with a very simple concept: What if you could grow a bunch of crops over time, convert them into profits, and then grow more crops on a bigger farm? It’s been over a decade since then, and plenty of games are still influenced by FarmVille today. On Thursday, Zynga announced a new addition to the FarmVille franchise for iOS, Android, and Mac.

Players show up to a homestead and complete challenges in order to unlock new farmhands, learn about animal husbandry, and even control the weather. There are 150 breeds of baby animals, and someone’s gotta raise them right. That’s you, the farmer, assisted by series veteran and helpful tutorial character Marie.

Amazon to punish New World dupers, add fixes to endgame content

New World is a lush fantasy MMO, but many players are ignoring the game’s actual objectives in lieu of chasing down (or being badly affected by) exploits, bugs, and gold duping. On Wednesday, developer Amazon Games posted an in-depth explanation on the game’s official forums going over many of the main problems and explaining the next steps.

The post, written by community manager under the handle of Luxendra, goes in depth on New World character transfers and the game’s full server status, which is a hot topic in the community. New World has players group together on a server, and if you’re on a different one than your friends, you can miss out on the game’s social experience. As the servers filled up, and transfers were disabled due to a gold duping bug, some groups found themselves split up across different servers and unable to play together.
