The new WarioWare will have Fire Emblem tea time and Animal Crossing microgames

Nintendo’s new WarioWare for Nintendo Switch will include the usual microgame zaniness when it launches this September. Players will pluck armpit hair, pick noses, squeeze tubes of toothpaste, and more, all in seconds-long chunks of gameplay that can be played cooperatively.

WarioWare: Get It Together! will also include the usual slate of Nintendo-themed microgames developed by WarioWare Inc. veteran character 9-Volt. This time around, 9-Volt’s collection of games inspired by Nintendo classics will be more modern than ever. As seen in Nintendo’s Treehouse Live E3 2021 gameplay stream, WarioWare: Get It Together! will include games based on Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Splatoon.

Nintendo showed off 20 minutes of No More Heroes 3, but not during its E3 stream

We’re only a few months away from the return of Travis Touchdown in No More Heroes 3, but after Nintendo’s E3 stream ended, it seemed the game would be absent from the conference. That is until Nintendo published a 25-minute deep dive into the game on its YouTube channel.

No More Heroes 3 is developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and directed by Suda Goichi, also known as Suda 51. Based on the gameplay demo, it seems the third entry will still have the offbeat style and weird sense of humor that makes Suda 51 games so unique.

Fighting games’ favorite furry SonicFox gets their own plush

Five-time EVO champion SonicFox now has their own plushie. “This furry gremlin has been signed off by SonicFox to officially fuck shit up,” says the merch store for Evil Geniuses, SonicFox’s club since last spring.

The plushie is 10 by 11 by 4 inches, 100% polyester, and “Modeled after the ‘Defender of Trans Rights’ themselves,” says the plushie’s product page. “The community begged for it; SonicFox listened.” And that, as they say, is that.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War season 4 patch balances assault rifles (again)

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is heading into a new season with a patch that’s full of new content, plus a couple of balance changes for good measure.

The biggest new addition with the patch is probably coming to Zombies mode with the new Mauer der Toten round-based map. Unlike the Outbreak mode with its massive map, Mauer der Toten will be more of a traditional Zombies experience, including a return to Berlin. If Outbreak is more your style, there’s also a new Zoo area for that mode as well. Finally, both Outbreak and Mauer der Toten will have Easter eggs that kick off on Thursday, June 17.

Breath of the Wild 2 upgrades Link’s hair to glorious

Nintendo gave fans a 2022 release date as well as a new teaser for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel as part of its E3 2021 Nintendo Direct on Tuesday.

While the new trailer showed all sorts of fun nuggets of gameplay — we got a closer look at Link’s new powers — we also got a peek at what Link will look like in the new game. At first glance, the biggest difference is that Link now has a cool, cybernetic arm with powers. However, if you look more closely, you’ll notice another fun detail that many fans are already pointing out: Link got a haircut, and it looks gorgeous.

Everything we know about the gameplay and story of Metroid Dread

After Nintendo’s E3 2021 press conference on Tuesday, the company streamed a Nintendo Treehouse Live segment featuring gameplay for Metroid Dread, a brand-new 2D Metroid game coming to Switch on Oct. 8. Metroid: Samus Returns developer MercurySteam is making the game, with Yoshio Sakamoto, who has directed several Metroid games, serving as the game’s producer.

The Treehouse segment opened with a video of Sakamoto describing Metroid Dread’s development journey.

Nintendo showed off a new trailer for its The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel during its E3 2021 Direct. Not only did Nintendo’s new teaser show off Link’s sweet new hairdo, it also gave us the first look at some of his new powers.

After some world-building — complete with creepy red goop and a foreboding shot of Zelda falling into an abyss — we see Link diving through the sky. This is a bit different from Link’s usual jumps from high towers, as much of the gameplay we see in this trailer seems to take place on floating islands above the clouds. Link’s dive seems more akin to Skyward Sword’s skydiving sections than anything out of the original Breath of the Wild.

Breath of the Wild’s Guardian will be playable in Hyrule Warriors, which rules

Breath of the Wild’s Guardian will be playable in Hyrule Warriors, which rules

If you took a brief pause during the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity section of today’s Nintendo Direct to tweet snarkily about the new Mario Party or excitedly about a new Advance Wars game, you might’ve missed an important announcement: The Guardian from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is coming to Age of Calamity as a playable character.

This forthcoming option — it will be part of Hyrule Warriors’ $19.99 expansion pass — will let you unleash eye-laser fury on waves of Bokoblins in the delightful don’t-think-about-it-too-hard mass-murder style of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors games. Fighting a Guardian in Breath of the Wild can be pretty miserable, but fighting as the (Battle-Tested) Guardian looks like it is going to absolutely kick ass.
