Watch the creepy trailer for Soviet BioShock-esque Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart’s first full trailer was recently released, and the first we’ve seen from Moscow-based developer Mundfish since it dropped a teaser trailer in July 2017. The first-person shooter is set in an alternate-universe Soviet Union of the 1960s-70s. The main character, P-3, a special agent of the Soviet government, is sent to investigate facility #3826 after it goes dark.

The game looks like someone scrapped BioShock, Fallout and Metro 2033 for parts, while also looking like its own bizarre thing. Flying drones and undead enemies intermingle with clown-robots and some sort of fluid tentacle creature. The trailer hints at horrors and secrets without showing all its cards, like with the briefest flash of a terrifying Hieronymus Bosch-esque yeti.

SNK reveals the Neo Geo Mini arcade console

To celebrate SNK’s 40th anniversary, the company will release a new console called the Neo Geo Mini, a miniaturized version of its MVS arcade cabinet that comes with 40 Neo Geo classics.

The Neo Geo Mini will be mini indeed — the console includes a 3.5-inch display and “fits perfectly in the palm of one’s hand,” according to SNK’s announcement. The console’s official dimensions are 135 mm wide by 108 mm deep by 162 mm tall, and it weighs 600 grams. That works out to roughly 5.25 inches by 4.25 inches by 6.25 inches, and 1.3 pounds.

Battlefield 1 fans unlock a door leading to Battlefield 2018’s reveal date

On May 23, we’ll find out where the next Battlefield is headed. The obsessive Easter egg hunters of Battlefield 1 figured it out by listening to water dripping from a pipe and realizing it was Morse code.

Like most Easter eggs and ARG hunts, this one took a long time to unwind. Battlefield 1 players had long noted the locked and blocked door in the basement of the Fort Vaux map, released in March 2017 as part of the They Shall Not Pass expansion, and schemed out ways to open it. Two days ago, they did — see the video above — realizing that the key to unlocking the door was breaking signs and flipping switches in a certain order, one that spells out “isolement,” which is French for “isolation.”

Twitch counters popular CS:GO streamer’s lawsuit, demands compensation

After nearly three months of silence, Twitch is responding to streamer James “Phantoml0rd” Varga’s lawsuit against the company.

Varga filed the lawsuit in February, nearly 600 days after he was first banned from the platform for allegedly promoting an off-platform Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gambling site that he was tied to, CSGO Shuffle. The lawsuit claims his ban was mishandled, breaking a contract he signed with the company. Varga is seeking financial retribution, alleging that Twitch’s ban led to his character being misrepresented. A further inability to generate revenue from streaming, a former full-time job, has supposedly caused irreparable damages.

Nintendo’s new charging stand solves Switch design challenge

Nintendo is finally addressing one of the Switch’s core deficiencies, one heretofore served by third-party peripheral makers and DIY solutions: On July 13, Nintendo will release a “new adjustable charging stand for the Nintendo Switch” for $19.99, according to a press release, allowing you to use the Switch in Tabletop mode and also charge the battery.

The Switch’s USB-C charging port is located on the bottom of the console which, while ideal for the console’s switching functionality in coordination with the regular TV mode dock, inhibits charging while in Tabletop mode. This new adjustable charging stand solves the problem by, simply, remapping that port to the side of the stand, thereby “enabling longer play sessions.” Anyone who’s labored to produce some of the Labo Variety Kit’s more complicated projects within the time constraints imposed by the Switch’s battery life understands the need for this product.
