FIFA 19 will include full Champions League

FIFA 19 will be released Sept. 28, with the European Champions League featured throughout the game, publisher Electronic Arts announced today during EA Play 2018.

EA Sports picked up the license to the UEFA Champions League following the end of a 10-year deal between European sports body UEFA and Konami, for its Pro Evolution Soccer series. The Champions League is an annual contest featuring the best clubs in Europe. EA’s soccer simulation has long trumped PES for official licenses, though the absence of the elite Champions League had left a significant gap.

PC Gaming Show at E3 2018: What to expect

Presented once again by PC Gamer, the PC Gaming Show at E3 2018 promises to be something. The PC Gaming Show has traditionally been a bit odd at best and pretty terrible at its worst. But there are always some cool-looking indie games to see or some new hardware to ogle.

The PC Gaming Show starts this year on Monday, June 11 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET. We don’t have an exact idea of how long it’ll run, but we do know that Sean “Day9” Plott will return as host.

FromSoftware cult classic Metal Wolf Chaos could be E3 2018’s best surprise

Before FromSoftware found success with Dark Souls and Bloodborne, the company dabbled in a wide variety of outlandish action games, including the cult hit, Japan-only, Xbox-exclusive mech game Metal Wolf Chaos. FromSoftware never brought the game to the West — even though the game was fully voiced in English — but it appears someone else finally might: Devolver Digital.

Today, the publisher tweeted a slightly modified version of the United States presidential seal, with the emblem’s eagle — apparently heavily armored — wielding a missile in one talon and a minigun in the other. Despite that alteration, the seal that Devolver tweeted looks much closer to the presidential seal that appeared in Metal Wolf Chaos than the one used by the U.S. government.

Battle for Azeroth will release 1 day early — but only in America

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth will release simultaneously around the world on Aug. 14. For players who struggle with time zones, that means American players will actually be able to start playing on Aug. 13 — a full day early.

World of Warcraft expansions usually roll out first in Europe, leaving North American players to spend the night watching European streams of new expansions before a big release. Players won’t be doing that this time around, according to Blizzard. Battle for Azeroth will launch in all regions — the Americas, Europe, Taiwan, Korea and Australia/New Zealand — at 6 p.m. ET on Aug. 13.

US Commission on School Safety will study video games and social media, not firearms ‘per se’

In a bizarre exchange earlier this week on Capitol Hill, the chair of President Donald Trump’s Federal Commission on School Safety backed away from its stated objective to study the role firearms play in school violence. At the same time, the chair detailed its intent to spend time studying the effects of video games and social media.

The exchange came during a Senate appropriations subcommittee meeting where education secretary Betsy DeVos, who chairs the Commission, was invited to speak about the proposed budget for the Department of Education. Senator Patrick Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont, began with a simple question: “Will your commission look at the role of firearms as it relates to gun violence in our schools?”

Dontnod Entertainment, the developer behind Life is Strange and the recently released Vampyr, revealed its new project today: Twin Mirror, a mystery thriller coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One from publisher Bandai Namco.

Twin Mirror’s debut trailer shows a character named Sam returning to the rural town of Basswood, seemingly in the wake of the mysterious death of a local journalist. In Basswood, Sam awakens in his hotel room to a horrifying scene: His clothes are soaked in blood and he has no recollection of what happened the night before. The trailer shows Sam exploring a surreal environment, seemingly a mindscape, in search of answers and fighting a ghostly memory. “Your mind is the one place to find the truth,” the trailer says.

Dead or Alive 6 announced, coming early 2019

The latest entry in Team Ninja and Tecmo Koei’s flagship fighting game series, Dead or Alive, is coming next year. Dead or Alive 6 is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One sometime in early 2019, according to a reveal trailer.

Dead or Alive 6’s debut trailer reveals six returning playable characters: Ryu Hayabusa, Kasumi, Hayate, Helena, Jann Lee and Zack. According to a report from IGN, Dead or Alive 6 will introduce new characters to the series. Team Ninja has opted to tone down the overly sexualized approach to the series’ female fighters, removing the games’ comical breast physics and giving characters like Helena and Kasumi less revealing clothing.
