Forza Horizon 4’s car list apparently leaks after early-download mistake

A Forza fan on PC who preordered the Ultimate Edition of Forza Horizon 4, yesterday discovered the game downloading through the Windows Store early. Examining the game files, they discovered a roster of more than 450 cars.

It’s important to note that this may not (and considering DLC, probably is not) the full vehicle lineup for Playground Games’ open-world racer, just announced at E3 2018. The game is still more than three months from launch and vehicles could be added in or held back. (The lineup changed between a similar leak and the launch of Forza Horizon 3 in September 2016). The original poster said there are some manufacturers who will appear that aren’t in this list, for example.

Tetsuya Nomura concedes Final Fantasy 7 Remake was announced too early

Final Fantasy 7 Remake was, for fans, an agonizing no-show at E3 2018. With Square Enix staging a dedicated E3 livestream for the first time since 2015, we guessed (incorrectly) there would be something about this long anticipated work. Alas, no.

What we do have, however, is at least the concession from director Tetsuya Nomura that, yes, this game was announced way too early. Cold comfort, especially for fans clinging to statements like “We are actually in development,” as a sign of progress.

Accused Fortnite leaker files defense against Epic’s lawsuit

A quality assurance contractor sued by Epic Games and blamed for a late April leak of Fortnite Battle Royale season four spoilers filed a defense to Epic’s claims this past week, saying he did not work with a third party to disseminate the information and that he had no indication that person would do so.

Thomas Hannah’s reply to Epic’s civil suit says the third person, who is not named as a defendant, “pumped [Hannah] with a series of questions and guesses regarding where the meteor would hit,” at the end of Fortnite Battle Royale season three. This references the big mystery closing out that timed event, when a blazing comet appeared in the sky and Fortnite’s excited player base speculated on what part of the map was doomed.

How will Splatoon 2 be affected by Nintendo Switch Online?

How will Splatoon 2 be affected by Nintendo Switch Online?

Despite the recent release of its first paid, single-player expansion, Octo, Splatoon 2 remains a multiplayer-first game for most of its community. Nintendo Switch’s online capabilities were free when the game launched, which helped support and expand the player base — and continues to do so. With the premium subscription service Nintendo Switch Online on the way, however, should players be concerned about a shrinking multiplayer field or, worse, a greater divide between experienced Squid Kids willing to pony up and tentative newcomers testing the waters?

Producer Hisashi Nogami doesn’t think so, he told Polygon. But he does anticipate some changes to how people approach the game once the Nintendo Switch Online barrier goes up this fall.

Accusations of sexual harassment rock the board gaming community

The world of tabletop gaming is coming to terms with accusations of sexual harassment after allegations of improper behavior at the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio.

Origins Game Fair, which ran June 13-17 this year, is a tabletop gaming convention sponsored by the Game Manufacturer’s Association (GAMA). Its partner this year was Wizards of The Coast, known for Dungeons & Dragons and the Magic: The Gathering franchises. Other sponsors included a who’s who list of major publishers, including Rio Grande Games, Iello, Wizkids, Paizo and CMON.

Katamari Damacy was way darker than you thought

Katamari Damacy was way darker than you thought

More than a decade after its release, Katamari Damacy remains one of the most delightful games we’ve ever played. The PlayStation 2 game and its sequel, We Love Katamari, play host to a cavalcade of bright colors, weird characters, magical settings and some killer music. In its most reductive state, Katamari is about cute characters rolling around a big, expanding ball to collect items. What’s not to love?

But to Keita Takahashi, the creator of the franchise and the upcoming Wattam, out later this year, Katamari Damacy is a far darker tale than it appears.

Destiny 2: Forsaken’s campaign is Mega Man mixed with zombies

Destiny 2: Forsaken’s campaign is Mega Man mixed with zombies

We’re only a couple of months away from getting revenge for Cayde-6’s unfortunate demise in Destiny 2: Forsaken. We knew that the campaign would boast a revenge-filled, western-style hunt, but thanks to an interview that Bungie did with Gamesradar, we have an even better idea of what that means.

Like we saw in the cinematic trailer from E3, the villains of Forsaken include Prince Uldren and eight Barons of the Scorn. The Scorn are apparently zombified Fallen, having been killed and raised from the grave time and time again. Their leaders are no exceptions. It looks like the story will consist of us hunting down these Barons in a non-linear fashion.
