Classic board game HeroQuest makes its triumphant return to retail, pre-order now

HeroQuest, the classic board game first released in 1989, is coming back as a retail product. Hasbro made the announcement on Monday, fulfilling a promise it made to fans during a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2020. Pre-orders go live today for the base game, although no price point or delivery date has been announced.

Originally published by Milton Bradley, which Hasbro acquired in 1984, HeroQuest was a dungeon-crawling board game produced in partnership with Games Workshop. Over the years it has achieved cult status, with vintage copies selling for many times the original retail price. This new edition is more or less a straight remake, minus a handful of proprietary Games Workshop terms and characters. It includes a 14-quest campaign and more than 65 plastic miniatures. It is being published under Hasbro’s Avalon Hill imprint.

Battlefield 2042 skin ‘unintentionally’ references Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, says EA

EA DICE will change a Battlefield 2042 character skin in the game’s next update, after a Ukrainian player pointed out it insensitively mentions the Russian occupation and annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014.

The skin is for Battlefield 2042’s Russian fighter, Boris Guskovsky, and it’s called “Little Green Man.” That is what the masked Russian soldiers in unmarked green uniforms and vehicles were called during the armed conflict leading to the annexation. Incidentally, the multiplayer-only Battlefield 2042’s lore involves a group of stateless fighters called “No-Pats.”

Gucci made a $10,000 Xbox, which does come with Game Pass

Microsoft and Italian luxury fashion house Gucci have teamed up for a special edition Xbox Series X. The $10,000 bundle, which includes the console, two wireless controllers, a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (or unspecified length), and a Gucci-made carrying case, will go on sale Nov. 17, is limited to just 100 hand-numbered editions.

Every component of the limited-edition Xbox oozes Gucci branding. The Xbox Series X itself is laser engraved with the house’s iconic Rhombi design, which Gucci explains as having a double meaning: “the GG pattern becomes a wordplay—not only representing Guccio Gucci’s initials but also the gaming phrase ‘Good Game.’”
