Follow-up to surreal jazz adventure The Norwood Suite in development

The Norwood Suite made it to number 90 in our latest Top 100, with Phil Savage heaping praise on the strange indie game about exploring a jazz hotel: "Whether you’re uncovering a finger-destroying musical score or just making a sandwich for a corporate stooge, everything you do is accompanied by a distinctive soundtrack and a witty visual flair. It’s a delightfully surreal space, full of mystery and surprise."

Annapurna has resolved debts of over $200 million

You may know Annapurna Interactive for games like What Remains of Edith Finch, Ashen, and Outer Wilds, but while it's been publishing well-received and visually striking games, its parent company, Annapurna Pictures, has had to explore bankruptcy options after financing several box-office bombs (including Vice, The Sisters Brothers, and Destroyer), and racking up hundreds of millions in debts.

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution is finally out of Steam Early Access

The goofy run-and-gun FPS Serious Sam: The First Encounter was released in 2001, setting Croatian developer Croteam off on a trajectory that would eventually lead it to talkative philosophy puzzler The Talos Principle. (I'm not sure how that happened either.) It was really good, and spawned a number of sequels that followed no particular numerical or chronological order: The First Encounter was followed by The Second Encounter, after which came Serious Sam 2, then HD versions of the Encounter games, but not Serious Sam 2, because it kind of sucked.

Crying Suns, the FTL-inspired strategy space opera, comes out this month

The tactical rogue-lite space opera Crying Suns went to Kickstarter last year with a pitch for a game inspired by FTL, but more story-focused: The Galactic Empire has collapsed, and humanity's only hope for survival lies with a clone of Admiral Ellys Idaho, the greatest Imperial commander of all time. The crowdfunding campaign was a big success, nearly tripling its €25,000 ($27,400) goal, and very soon—as in September 19—the game will be upon us.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will reward players who help others catch up

Monster Hunter: World is a pretty big game, and getting all the way to Hunter Rank 16—which is where you'll need to be to start Iceborne, when it comes out—can take a hefty chunk of time. But Capcom says players who haven't finished World yet won't have to worry or hang back when Iceborne arrives, as there are incentives in place to encourage teamwork between higher and lower level hunters.

Control debug tools find mention of DLC

Software developers use debugging tools to test various aspects of games and make sure specific features that aren't visible to players using the finished version. These are usually disabled for when a game comes out, but as anyone who's ever typed "iddqd" into a Doom console knows, sometimes you find a few that can be used even after a game ships. That's sort of the case for Remedy's Control, and one player has used Control's debug to unearth a hint about upcoming DLC.

Save $850 on this Alienware RTX 2080-spec gaming desktop, this Labor Day

It's not often you find a cheap Alienware gaming PC. It's widely known that while Dell's gaming-brand rigs are well built and come with classy customer care support, you're often paying a little too much for the specs you actually get inside, unless you happen to find a really, really good deal. This Labor Day, however, has provided us with one of those deals because you can get an Alienware Aurora R8 with an RTX 2080 8GB graphics card, an i7-8700 CPU, 16GB of RAM, 256GB NVMe SSD/1TB HDD combo, and Windows 10 Home pre-installed for $1399 at the Dell store. That's actually a solid price for this kind of build, even without the Alienware name.

Bleeding Edge video shows chaotic combat, colourful heroes, and hoverboards

It's not hard to understand why Ninja Theory wanted to make a game that looks like Bleeding Edge after spending years creating the brilliant but unrelentingly dreary Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. The bright chaos of Bleeding Edge was available to experience at Gamescom this year, and YouTuber Arekkz has some off-screen footage that provides a pretty solid look at how the game looks moment to moment as you're playing.
