Make a village in your browser in free building game Habitat

Building a village is the easy part. Keeping it alive is considerably harder, as you'll discover out when you play Habitat. It's a deceptively cute village building game where your entire village fits on one screen, with each of the little houses, the trees and crops, represented as tiles on a tiny grid. To chop down trees, you merely click on them. To plant crops, you merely click on them. To hunt those boars roaming around the place, you merely...well, you get the idea, I'm sure.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake's timed exclusivity now ends in April 2021

Final Fantasy 7 Remake's timed exclusivity to the Playstation has a new deadline of April of 2021, according to updated box art published on the Square Enix website. That makes a certain amount of sense, though, considering Square Enix recently announced it needed more time to work on the game and wouldn't be hitting its original March 3, 2020 release date. The new date is now April 10, 2020—exactly one year before the timed exclusivity now ends.

Steam users played for nearly 21 billion (yes, billion) hours in 2019

With 2020 now well underway, Valve has shared a look back at the "major updates and new features" that were added to Steam throughout 2019. It was a big year: More new games "found success" on Steam in 2019 than in 2018, according to the Year in Review blog post, and median earnings among new releases went up too. Monthly active users grew to nearly 95 million, and despite the occasional perception that Steam sales aren't the big deal they used to be, "2019 finished strong with our most successful sale ever."

Blizzard is offering refunds for Warcraft 3: Reforged

Warcraft 3: Reforged was a really big deal at BlizzCon 2018, which is why its release more than a year later has been so disappointing for so many fans. You can get a detailed breakdown in our in-depth outrage explainer, but the short version is that what was promised fell well short of what was delivered, and people aren't taking it well. We gave it a 59% in our review, which is bad enough for such a well-loved RTS, but it actually ended up with the lowest user review score for a videogame on Metacritic at one point, dipping as low as 0.4. (It has since bounced back to 0.5)

Ooblets developers tease a 2020 release and 'Sea Dangling'

The cute farm sim-RPG Ooblets has been in development for a few years now, with no real sign of when it might actually be released. A publishing deal with Double Fine was announced shortly after it was revealed, but that fell apart when Double Fine was acquired by Microsoft. Developer Glumberland then decided to self-publish as an Epic Games Store exclusive, which it said at the time would speed up development in the long run but might actually delay the initial launch, "because it takes some time to ramp things up."
