Frontier offers a more in-depth look at Elite Dangerous: Odyssey's FPS combat

In the latest Elite Dangerous: Odyssey dev diary, you get a longer look at the all-new FPS combat. Previously all we had to go by was a short teaser shown at the Game Awards, as well as the dev diaries released throughout the year, which focused on mission design and overall gameplay possibilities. This video actually shows you some of the ol' ratatat, and how it fits into Elite Dangerous on the whole. Frontier emphasises that suddenly finding yourself in the role of a squishy human, devoid of the safety a spaceship offers, is going to "force a mentality shift from bold and daring star pilot to vulnerable on-foot troop."

Don't want to overspend on a PC case? This budget box is just $30 after rebate

You could spend a small (or big) fortune on a case if you really wanted to, and if you have the budget (and desire) to go that route, that's great. However, if you are looking to be more frugal and devote more of your budget to things like a GPU, CPU, RAM, and storage—y'know things that will actually make a difference to your gaming experience—an inexpensive case is the way to go. And it does not get much cheaper than this.

Blizzard says to expect more Overwatch 2 info at Blizzcon in February

During the latest Overwatch developer update video, game director Jeff Kaplan briefly mentioned that news on Overwatch 2 will be forthcoming during Blizzcon in February 2021, which will be held completely online. This is the first life sign for Overwatch 2 since the sequel's reveal back in November 2019, likely due to the coronavirus pandemic which also caused the cancelation of Blizzcon 2020.

G.Skill is plundering Sumerian mythology for its first custom AIO CPU cooler

G.Skill is most synonymous high-end memory products, and as it relates to that, it is very much involved in the extreme overclocking scene—its RAM accounts for around half of the top 20 DDR4 frequency records at HWBOT. But like many memory makers, RAM is only part of a fleshed out product lineup. One area G.Skill has not dabbled in, however, is CPU cooling, but that now changes with the introduction of its ENKI series of all-in-one liquid coolers.

Invisible players are slaughtering everyone in Call of Duty: Warzone

Call of Duty: Warzone's much-hyped Season One has now launched, and sadly it wasn't long before players identified a new exploit. The update added an attack helicopter to the game, and following certain steps around this allows players to trigger a state of invisibility for themselves. They can still see, move and shoot as normal but, outside of audio cues and the minimap, other players just can't see them.

Hades now supports cross saves between PC and Nintendo Switch

Hades didn't have cross save available at launch, which at that time mostly meant that Early Access players had to start from the beginning on Switch. Now the cross saves are here, and you can move PC saves to Switch and vice versa. This update also brings a number of post-launch patches from the PC version over to Switch.

Twitch outlaws 'simp' and 'incel' as sexually disparaging insults

Last week Twitch announced changes to its hateful conduct and harassment policy that will, among other things, impose a ban on the Confederate flag, blackface, and unwelcome sexual comments. Many of the changes were simply a clarification of regulations that already exist, presumably aimed at closing the door on people claiming ignorance of the rules when they break them. Twitch also said that it would "look at the content of statements or actions in order to determine whether a behavior is abusive and violates our guidelines, rather than relying solely on perceived intent" under the new rules.

Cooling is more important than ever for gaming PCs. Here are the different options available

As the latest high-end hardware for PCs such as AMD’s 5000 series CPUs and the graphics cards we may eventually be able to buy continue to push the boundaries of how much power you can cram into a case, cooling solutions have rapidly become more relevant than ever before. More power means more power usage and heat; if your components overheat, their performance output sharply falls. That means you’re most likely going to need effective cooling in order to get your money’s worth out of your snazzy new hardware, especially if you plan on overclocking.
