Tacoma and Next Up Hero are free on The Epic Games Store

It's a new week of free games on the Epic Games Store, and once again it's a neat selection. From now until July 30, you can make the indies Next Up Hero and Tacoma yours forever—and you should, since none of us are leaving our homes anytime soon and games are great.

CrossfireX's singleplayer campaign looks bombastic, but its PC release is still unconfirmed

You might have never heard of Crossfire, but it's actually one of the most popular games on the planet with more than one billion players over its lifetime (yes, a billion). On the surface, it looks like a free-to-play Counter-Strike clone, but it's evolved into a kind of MMO-lite FPS with cosmetic skins, guns to unlock, and dozens of varying game modes. Still, it was a bit surprising when Microsoft announced it would be bringing Crossfire to the Xbox One last year as CrossfireX, with Remedy—the folks behind Control and Max Payne—making a singleplayer campaign. There are hands with faces, massive tongues lolling out of walls, and all sorts of strange flora and fauna.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis looks like an entirely new game in the series

Phantasy Star Online 2 is a pretty great MMO but two of the things holding it back are its dated graphics and awful user interface. Menus are a mess to navigate, and the game frequently looks like something out of the PlayStation 2-era, which is why Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is so intriguing. It looks like a complete overhaul of the game, with much-improved graphics and a new user interface to boot. But it's not exactly clear exactly what New Genesis is.
