Intel's next-gen gaming chips will take a huge architectural risk to rival AMD's Ryzen

Intel Alder Lake will be a hybrid architecture, Intel confirms. The next-generation client processor architecture, expected to arrive in the second half of 2021 for both mobile and desktop, will be a combination of two CPU architectures: Golden Cove and Gracemont. The aim is to provide an efficient answer for both high performance and high core-count processing for games and productivity tasks. In short, this is Intel's answer to high core-count AMD Ryzen chips.

Metamorphosis, the Kafka-inspired game about being a bug, is out now

Sometimes I wonder if the bug's life is ideal. Your only real concern is sustenance, and avoiding being crushed underfoot. Of course, Kafka's Gregor Samsa didn't get off that lightly: becoming a bug after first being a man would definitely not be fun, especially if you've got a family to support. The ye olde point and click adventure Bad Mojo didn't make the bug's life seem like much fun either. Still, I kinda wouldn't mind spending at least one day as a bug.

New Microsoft Flight Simulator video shows off dozens of lifelike airports

It's almost hard to believe that Microsoft Flight Simulator releases in less than week: the latest trailer contributes to the general feeling that it's too good to be true. In four minutes, the above video showcases dozens of planes and airports, from airliners to Cessnas, from the United Kingdom to New Zealand. It's definitely very pretty in 4K, but you'll probably need a heavy duty rig to play it this way.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands big pre-expansion event is live on the test servers and it's unleashed an unfathomably large zombie plague on players, turning Azeroth's capital cities into undead wastelands. Hundreds of zombies are stalking the streets, devouring any NPC they can find—even including some that offer quests—and turning them into the undead. Players who get within arm's reach can also be infected, giving them special zom-bilities and letting them attack other players to spread the infection. Naturally, Azeroth is in utter chaos.

Control is coming to Steam this month with both expansions and a lower price

Control came out in the summer of 2019, and it was fantastic. It was also an Epic Games Store exclusive, and despite how far the store has come (and all those free games), that's still a problem for some PC gamers. That won't be an issue for much longer, though, as Remedy and 505 announced today that Jesse's big adventure through a multi-dimensional weirdscape will finally arrive on Steam on August 27.
