'Crime noir shooter' Fallen Aces looks like a combination of Condemned: Criminal Origins and Dick Tracy comics

New Blood Interactive, the indie publisher whose previous releases include Dusk, Amid Evil, and the just-launched-on-Early-Access Ultrakill, unveiled a new project during today's Realms Deep online event called Fallen Aces. The gritty noir saga tells the story of the A.C.E.S., the guardians of Switchblade City, who are being taken out, one by one. Now it falls to you—one man, with two fists—to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Brutal Fate is an entire game by the creator of Brutal Doom

The creator of Brutal Doom is developing a game called Brutal Fate, a "fast-paced ultra-violent retro first-person shooter." (Or, as some of us are calling them these days, a Boomer Shooter.) Anyway, Brutal Doom is an impressive mod that lots of people like, including us, so it's kind of exciting to see the creator take off on their own. Brutal Fate is a game where—stop me if you've heard this one—a space marine kills a bojillion interdimensional demons using a large variety of deadly weapons. Brutal Fate will have a free demo available before release.

Wasteland 3 patch buffs swearing parrot and cyborg chickens, addresses critical bugs

I managed to finish Wasteland 3 without encountering any noteworthy bugs—a single hang on a loading screen, and one name of a location I entered refusing to fade until I left—but it sounds like I was one of the lucky ones, with a variety of issues plaguing some players. Though inXile released a quick hotfix shortly after launch, the 1.1.0 patch is now live and addresses more of the issues.

Small World of Warcraft is a Blizzard-y take on a beloved board game

A video game/board game mashup of two 00s classics is now out and about: Small World of Warcraft, which is one of those brilliant names that I'd suggest but which publishers rarely choose. It's a World of Warcraft-themed skin on the board game Small World, with a set of mechanics and clever twists to make the game of rising and falling empires new and fresh for the Alliance and Horde.

Epic Games asks court to stop Apple's 'retaliation' against Fortnite suit

In a court motion filed Friday, September 4, Epic Games requested an injunction restoring Fortnite to the iOS App Store. Epic calls the filing an action to "stop Apple’s retaliation against Epic for daring to challenge its unlawful restrictions while our antitrust case proceeds." It's the latest legal maneuver in what will surely be a long, drawn out confrontation between two powerful tech giants—what one might call a Goliath vs. Much Larger Goliath situation.
