WoW won't be making any big changes to Shadowlands' contentious Covenants system before launch

In the months leading up to World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' October 26 release, players have continued to argue over one particularly contentious feature. Beta players can join one of four Covenants in exchange for unique powerful abilities and other perks, like exclusive endgame activities. Though the issue is complex, the overarching fear is that Covenants won't be balanced and players will be forced to choose whichever is deemed most powerful by the meta instead of whichever one they think is coolest. After months of debating and listening to feedback, game director Ion Hazzikostas announced today that the feature won't be getting any major changes before Shadowlands releases.

Eric Barone 'would not not be surprised' if Stardew Valley 2 happens someday

Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone is currently hard at work on update 1.5, which will include a mysterious new door in Willy's fish shop and, apparently, bananas. It's been in development since February and there's still no word on when it will come out, but Barone told Game Informer that he doesn't think it will mark the end of the game—although he's not quite ready to tie himself down.

Big bird combat simulator The Falconeer is coming on November 10

Today's big news that the Xbox Series X and S machines will be released on November 10 seems to have cleared the way for a few game companies to announce that they'll be unleashing their latest and greatest on the same day. Ubisoft is dropping Assassin's Creed Valhalla a week early to take advantage of the big day, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will come out three days early on the new Xbox machines (still November 13 for everyone else, though), and now Wired Productions has announced that the big-bird combat sim The Falconeer will also arrive on November 10.

THQ Nordic reveals Chronos: Before the Ashes

Chronos is an RPG from Gunfire Games that we liked quite a bit when it was released in 2016. "Gunfire Games knows how to imbue combat with weight and a sense of rhythm," we said in our 84/100 review. "The Chronos team previously worked on Darksiders and Darksiders 2, and like those games, Chronos requires that you master the basic techniques of attacking, dodging and parrying, or even simple enemies will take you down."

AMD plans Zen 3 and Radeon RX 6000 announcements for October

AMD must have stated a million times (slight exaggeration) that Zen 3 is on track to launch this year, but what it hasn't done up to this point is commit to an actual date. Well, it just happened. Sort of, anyway. In what promises to be an "exciting fall for gamers," AMD is planning two separate events in October, one to finally and formally introduce Zen 3, and the other to introduce its next-generation Radeon RX 6000 graphics lineup, based on RDNA 2.
