The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 will be out on February 14

The PC port of JRPG The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 will release on February 14, localisation studio Xseed games announced in a livestream of the game yesterday. It was the first time we've seen a good portion of it running on PC, and it went smoothly—if you were a fan of the previous game, it might be worth a watch, and for anyone not familiar with the series it's a chance to see its blend of exploration, dialogue, fishing and turn-based combat.

Atlus asks fans if they'd like a Persona game on PC, 'online RPG' on the table

Would you like to see a Persona game on PC? Perhaps a remake of Persona 4, or a new shooter set in the Persona universe? Those are the kind of questions that developer Atlus, owned by Sega, is asking fans in an annual survey. The survey isn't exclusively focused on PC gaming, but asks fans to answer questions about which remakes they'd like to see from the Persona or Shin Megami Tensei series, and also asks what platforms they'd like to see those remakes on, including PC. Presumably, enough people ticking the right boxes could set the wheels in motion.

Ubisoft reverses price increase of Rainbow Six Siege Standard Edition

The Rainbow Six Siege community's frustration at the recent price increase for the game has made Ubisoft think again, and the developer has rolled back the price jump on the Standard Edition of the game. Ubisoft had planned to turn the $40 edition into a $60 Advanced Edition with bonus cosmetic items and extra in-game currency, but in a Reddit thread yesterday it said it will be "keeping the Standard Edition in the store at the current price".

People are using AI to put Witcher characters' faces into real porn

Earlier this week, Motherboard reported on 'deepfakes' a redditor that specializes in using a machine learning algorithm to plaster celebrity faces over the actors' faces in porn videos. The result can be convincing, albeit horrifying both in the occasional slip of the algorithm that distorts the face just so and in the implications of the technology. All it takes is a PC, a couple high-quality videos of the subject, and some publicly available software to produce plausible face-swapped footage. That means anyone can be the victim of impersonation videos, or some unknown means of bullying and deception this horrible future has unlocked.

But before the complete end of privacy and digital consent, the people must know whether they can put their favorite characters from The Witcher into porn, as we should have predicted.

Sea of Thieves beta datamining reveals ship customization, harpoons, and a player-eating Kraken

After playing the closed beta of Rare's Sea of Thieves, Tyler and I put together a wishlist of what we hoped we might see in the open world multiplayer pirate game. Rather than just hoping and guessing, a redditor named m4rx did some actual digging around in the game files and extracted a bit of information. While m4rx hasn't been able to decrypt the actual assets yet, the resulting post appears to confirm some elements we saw in the Sea of Thieves 'Pirate Legend' video and reveals a few new ones.
