Flotilla 2 will fling you into tactical space battles in VR

I know it launched eight years ago, but it’s strange that we don’t talk about Blendo Games’ Flotilla more. It’s a playful space romp full of turn-based tactical battles that evoke the real-time scraps of Homeworld. I frequently think about it, and wonder if Blendo will ever return to its distinctly orange universe and its aggressive space critters. Good news, then! Blendo is indeed returning to Flotilla.

Fallout Miami brings sun, sea and sand to the post-apocalypse

Miami, the city based on the classic Will Smith song, now has another claim to fame: it’s the latest city to be given a Fallout makeover. Fallout Miami is an in-development mod for Fallout 4, giving us a close look at what’s going on in post-apocalyptic Florida. It’s seen better days, but the beaches still look lovely and the art deco architecture is still standing. Mostly.

Sonic Mania Plus release date set

To paraphrase Andy's review, Sonic Mania is the best Sonic game in decades. It's also responsible for one of the silliest features ever penned on PC Gamer dot com. Don't read too much into the latter (seriously, Phil, Chemical Plant Zone has the best music in the entire series), but know that the strength of the former has led to Sonic Mania Plus—a definitive version of the original that comes with new stuff. It's due on PC in July.

WW2 FPS Day of Infamy is free to play this weekend

The Second World War multiplayer FPS Day of Infamy, a Red Orchestra-like "rework" of the modern combat shooter Insurgency, will be free to play this weekend on Steam—beginning tomorrow, actually (that's April 26) at 1 pm ET. Developer New World Interactive also has some weekend activities in store, including livestreams and giveaways, increased XP, and "guides and tips" for new players.

Epic seeks default judgment in lawsuit against 14-year-old Fortnite cheater and his mom

Epic Games filed a lawsuit against a couple of particularly determined Fortnite cheaters late last year, one of whom turned out to be a 14-year-old boy. That led to a scathing letter from the lad's mom, who said the studio "has no capability of proving" its claim, and even if it did, she hadn't given the boy consent to play the game, as required by Fortnite's terms and conditions. It was an epic response, you might say, which led to more legalistic maneuvering but no further response from the defendant or his mother.

The Good Life, Swery's 'daily life RPG' murder mystery, gets a free demo

With nine days left in The Good Life's second crowdfunding campaign, developer White Owls Inc, helmed by Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro, released a free demo earlier today, which you can download here. Just extract it to a folder and run the topmost application. You'll need a gamepad to play it—ideally an Xbox controller, because let me tell you it does not play nice with PS4 controllers.

Try the demo for ambitious top-down action RPG Last Epoch

Last Epoch is a "loot-based action RPG" focused on crafting and character-building. At least, it might be: at the moment, it's an ambitious idea seeking Kickstarter backing, with developer Eleventh Hour Games asking for $210,000 to bring it to life. At the time of writing, its campaign has raised $77,988 and will run for another 21 days. Luckily, it's already got a free demo you can try for yourself (the download link is at the top of the page, or try this page).

Halo community in turmoil as Microsoft DMCAs Halo Online Twitch streamers

Right now, you can still download and play Halo Online mod ElDewrito. The updater is still available on the mod website and player-hosted servers are still online. But you wouldn't know it from the mood among the Halo community, where confusion and anger have been swirling since Halo developer 343 Industries posted a statement that Microsoft was looking into legal action to protect its intellectual property. Since that statement landed on Tuesday, things have escalated quickly. Microsoft has begun DMCAing Twitch streams and Youtube videos depicting Halo Online, which apparently even surprised 343.
