The Games Workshop licensing machine continues to grind inexorably forward with today's announcement of Warhammer: Chaosbane, a new isometric action-RPG set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. The new game will be set in the Old World, "a dark and bloody continent" comprised primarily of human nations, that has suffered numerous invasions over the years by the greenskins, skaven, undead, and others.

E3 is less than two weeks away, in case you'd somehow managed to forget, and there's been a lot of action in the run-up to the big show teasing some of the big games we'll learn about when it arrives. Activision trotted out Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 earlier this month, and more recently Battlefield 5 got the big reveal treatment. Bethesda's teasing Fallout 76. Amidst it all, BioWare has taken a slightly more low-key approach to reminding everyone that it's got something cooking too.

Battlefield 5's 'Airborne' mode will parachute players into the fight

Last week's big Battlefield 5 reveal gave us the basics of what's in store—it'll be set in World War 2, and people will shoot at each other—but there's still quite a bit we don't know. EA revealed one such unknown element on Twitter yesterday, a new attack-and-defend game mode called Airborne, in which one team drops from the sky to destroy some artillery, while the other does its best to keep the guns firing.

Depth of Extinction is a turn-based strategy game about assembling a squad of soldiers, cramming them all into a submarine, and exploring the water-logged ruins of a once-prosperous Earth. As solo developer Mike Stumhofer told me when I played it at a recent convention, it's a little bit XCOM and a little bit FTL, and if you're interested, you can technically play it right now by buying into its limited First Access run on Itch.io
