Hearthstone pro sets ridiculous new ladder win streak record

Given the game's inherent variance, a good win rate in Hearthstone is anything above 60 percent or so. You're getting into top Legend range when you hit 65 percent. A sustained win rate above or around 70 percent is world champion territory, and more often than not, achieved through blind luck or a small sample size. So for David "Dog" Caero, a Hearthstone pro who plays for Team Liquid, racking up 50 Ws in a row is frankly absurd.

Unavowed is a retro-adventure about demonic possession and what comes after

More than two years after revealing it to the world, old-time adventure outfit Wadjet Eye Games has announced that its latest project, Unavowed, will be out on August 8. The new game is a supernatural thriller about a victim of demonic possession, freed after committing numerous violent crimes while under the fiend's control. Homeless, friendless, and wanted by the police, you're given a new identity and invited to join the Unavowed, an ancient society dedicated to the fight against evil.

Digital adaptations of Viticulture and Charterstone board games in the works

In a lengthy post earlier this month about Scythe: Digital Edition and the realities of digital game development, designer-owner Jamey Stegmaier of Stonemaier Games casually announced that the company was actively working towards digital adaptations of popular games Viticulture and Charterstone. Digital adaptations of both games are in the works, though very early in development for Charterstone, while Viticulture is still without a developer though Stegmaier has been pursuing and choosing one for about two years. “I’m excited about Scythe Digital,” posted Stegmaier, “just as I’m eager to move forward with Viticulture Digital. Charterstone Digital is also in the works.” Viticulture, a 2013 board game that has become a consistent seller, is the worker-placement board game about making wine that put Stonemaier games on the map. Charterstone, from 2017, is a legacy worker-placement game about building a village on a fantasy frontier. Jamey Stegmaier, Stonemaier Games’ only full time employee, was the designer on all three games.

Ni No Kuni 2 difficulty update fixes its biggest problem

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is still one of my favorite games of 2018. As I said in my review back in March, it's a gorgeous, ambitious JRPG that keeps on giving, elevated by a simple but satisfying kingdom building sim. The only thing I didn't really like about it was how easy it is, so I'm extremely pleased to see its latest update add some advanced difficulty modes.
