Fight undead robots in Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, out now

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus launched on Steam yesterday evening, and while a Warhammer game launching would normally be just another Thursday, Mechanicus is a bit of a novelty. Instead of being full of great big Space Marines and the things Space Marines fight, typically Orks and Chaos, it’s all about the much more enigmatic Adeptus Mechanicus and their complicated relationship with technology, both alien and ancient. And tactical battles. Lots of tactical battles.

Star Citizen is going free for a week, and you get a new planet to explore

In celebration of its anniversary, Star Citizen will be free for everyone next week. From November 23 to November 30, you’ll be able to flit around in the alpha, getting into trouble in space or exploring Hurston; that's the sim’s very first planet, also launching next week. The extended free period means you’ll have more time to fly every single ship in the game—they’re all going to be free for 24 hours, rotating daily.

That date will also mark the beginning of the Season of the Forge, which will see the return of heavy machine guns. And one week after that, on December 4, the first of three expansions included in the Destiny 2: Forsaken annual pass will go live: the Black Armory.

Surprise! Killer7 is now on Steam

NIS America teased the upcoming release of Killer7 in September with a trailer showcasing the game's cel shaded graphics and first three assassins: The Cleaner, the Hellion, and Four-Eyes. What it did not have, unfortunately, was any hint of a release date or pricing. Today the publisher revealed both, by releasing the game on Steam entirely without warning.

E3 is getting smaller next year

Sony Interactive Entertainment dropped a big bombshell on the Entertainment Software Association today when it said that it would not be attending E3 in 2019. Nor is it planning a separate, offsite-but-nearby show of its own akin to EA or the late, lamented Devolver parking lot. PlayStation senior vice president of communications Jennifer Clark told Game Informer flat-out that Sony "will not activate or hold a press conference around E3."
