Blizzard recently announced its plans for World of Warcraft esports in 2019. There’s still some competitive spirit left in Azeroth, apparently, even after countless invasions, time travel shenanigans and, most recently, the return to the Horde-Alliance conflict. This year will see the return of the Arena World Championship with a larger prize pool, while the Mythic Dungeon Invitational has dropped the ‘invitational’ part and is now open to everyone.

There are a pair of Anthem demos coming prior to its February release, one for preorders and Origin Access subscribers running January 25-27, and another for everyone else on February 1-3. They'll give the unconvinced an opportunity to see what it's all about before they commit themselves to a preorder, and in the case of the preorder demo, I suppose, will (hopefully) make the already-committed feel good about the choice.

Far Cry: New Dawn is basically a continuation of Far Cry 5, except that the world has been given a nuclear face-wash and all of the oh-so-important things that you fought, bled, and killed for—as with all things in life—meant nothing in the end. But creative director Jean-Sebastien Decant said in a video posted to Twitter today that there's more to the new game than just a reskin with crappier weapons and cooler cars.

These words begin the latest dev diary for open world RPG Outward, from Nine Dots Studio and Deep Silver. It's not just the romantic idea of a backpack signifying travel and adventure, either: in Outward, your backpack has an effect on your character beyond just how much loot you can carry.
