Samsung 860 EVO 1TB and 2TB SSDs are at their cheapest ever price in the UK, with up to 67% off

If you're looking to upgrade your SSD (or even that outdated HDD) in your gaming PC, now is absolutely the time to do it. Amazon UK has knocked off a massive amount of money for both the 1TB and 2TB Samsung 860 EVO drives, making both the cheapest they've ever been in the UK by some distance. Right now you can get the 1TB drive for £103, and the 2TB drive for £204. Both represent roughly 60% savings on the recommended retail price although, in truth, neither drive has been that price for some time. We recommend the 1TB version as our best SSD for gaming, as it's the SATA drive that best balances price with performance right now.

Skybound Games had five staff when they stepped in to save The Walking Dead

In a recent interview with Gamespot, Telltale's former creative director Kent Mudle and CEO of Skybound Games Ian Howe discussed the resurrection of The Walking Dead: The Final Season. When Telltale's closure was announced in 2018 only the first episode of the four-episode series had been released, and while the second made it out before doors closed the last two were still in early stages of pre-production.

Tencent have launched their WeGame client outside China

Last year Tencent, the Chinese conglomerate who own Riot Games and have holdings in Activision-Blizzard, Ubisoft, and a 40% share in Epic Games, announced they would be rebranding the Tencent Gaming Platform and launching it globally. The Tencent Gaming Platform is their digital storefront and launcher which has 200 million users, but has only been available in China until now. With servers in Hong Kong their new platform, WeGame X, can be accessed by the rest of the world. (The language dropdown is on the top right of that page.)

This mod makes Doom a literal corridor shooter

"All Doom Levels are Straight Line now" says the description for Linear Doom. "No more mazes." This self-described "jokewad" by modder DeXiaZ released on April 1 takes all of Doom's classic levels and tightens them down into one long corridor. There's enough room to strafe a little so you can still potentially dodge those imp fireballs, but otherwise this is just a straight line run through all of Doom's enemies, weapons, and pickups one after the other. I look forward to seeing the speedruns of this.

Pathway, the pulpy tomb-raiding tactics game, is out in just 4 days

Mash together XCOM, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones and Wargroove and you'd probably get something that looks like Pathway, a pixel art turn-based tactics game about pinching treasure from Nazis. Publisher Chucklefish—which developed Wargroove—has announced a release date, and it's sooner than I expected. It'll launch on April 11, which is in just four days.

Chapeau is a multiplayer platformer about being a hat

If Team Fortress 2 taught me anything, it's that hats are great. Austrian indie devs Salt Castle Studio reckon they're great enough to warrant their own game altogether, so they've created Chapeau, a multiplayer platformer in which you control various pieces of headwear, from helmets to top hats. An alpha version is launching "soon".
