Overcrowd turns commuting into a cute management game

Overcrowd: A Commute 'Em Up is a game obsessed with the teeming masses of commuters cramming themselves inside cramped trains and busy stations in the London Underground. It started life as a simple mobile game but has since become a PC management romp that's also due to be collected by the London Transport Museum. It's hitting Steam Early Access next week.

Dell is putting thin and light Alienware laptops in Area-51m skin

I didn't like the Alienware Area-15m. Others did, and I get it—it's a relatively compact desktop replacement whose "Legend" design language stands out as one of the more tasteful things the celestial-themed Dell subsidiary has done probably ever. But the Area-51m is held back by two power bricks and a GPU upgradeability claim that isn't technically true.

This upcoming Steam game is actually just a shameless rip-off of Battlefield 1942

This upcoming Steam game is actually just a shameless rip-off of Battlefield 1942

It doesn't take a genius to realize that the Steam page for Tank Battlegrounds, a "first-person shooting game set in World War II," is actually just Battlefield 1942. The trailer is the exact same as Battlefield 1942's trailer but clumsily cut short so you don't see the logo, the screenshots are the same, and even the game's description mistakenly refers to itself as Battlefield 1942 instead of Tank Battlegrounds. It's clear that someone is trying to use Battlefield 1942 to sell a fraudulent game. But why this kind of thing is even on Steam in the first place?

The Nilfgaardian armor in Netflix's The Witcher series is disturbingly wrinkly

With the release of Netflix's The Witcher series slowly but surely approaching, leaked footage of what is purportedly actors wearing Nilfgaardian armor has appeared on the Redanian Intelligence YouTube channel. The video doesn't reveal anything about the story or surprise cameo appearances—it's mainly just actors goofing around off-camera—but the armor is really something to see.

Pathologic 2 is getting a difficulty slider but the developers don't want you to use it

The concept of "difficulty" in Pathlogic is tricky to parse because the game is so utterly impenetrable. Is it difficult, or is it just impossible to figure out what the hell is going on and thus what you're supposed to be doing? Pathologic 2 aims to maintain the original's weirdness, which is central to the experience, while smoothing down the sharp edges of confusion that make it unnecessarily challenging and frustrating to play—"difficult," you might say.

A modder is remaking Mario Odyssey inside of Mario 64, hat tricks included

The older I get the more I realize that modders will never be satisfied until they've combined every game with every other game. One modder in particular, Kaze Emanuar, is spending his time building Super Mario Odyssey into Mario 64 but with all the fancy features you'd expect like Mario's new hat moves, the ability to possess different enemies by tossing your hat onto them, and even the levels themselves. It's an enormously impressive bit of work, and you can see Emanuar's progress in his latest video above.

Ubisoft store leak suggests that an Origin Access-style service may be coming

A leak out of the Ubisoft Store suggests that the publisher may be about to announce a subscription-based service through its digital storefront that could be similar to Electronic Arts' Origin Access program. As noticed by users on Resetera, a placeholder for a "Ubisoft Pass Premium" recently appeared on the store, before being quickly yoinked away.
