Assassin's Creed Games Are Discounted Up To 70% Off For PC (Including Odyssey)

about X hours ago from

If you've been itching to play Assassin's Creed on PC recently, today's the day to pick up whichever titles you want, as Fanatical is running a huge sale on Assassin's Creed games for PC. The sale covers many of the main series titles, including Origins, Syndicate, Rogue, Unity, Black Flag, and, of course, Odyssey, the latest installment in the series. A spin-off, Assassin's Creed Chronicles (with three episodes set in China, India, and Russia, respectively), is also available at a discount.

Note that these deals are for Uplay, not Steam, and you must have the Uplay game client installed on your PC. You must also have an Ubisoft account (which is free to create). Once you've purchased Assassin's Creed at Fanatical, you'll be prompted to log into your Ubisoft account--once you do, you'll see the word "activating," and the game will be added to your Ubisoft account. You'll then find the game, ready to play, in the "Games" section of the Uplay desktop app. Get more info on redeeming Fanatical purchases for Uplay here.

If you prefer to play on console, it's worth nothing that Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is even cheaper for PS4 and Xbox One right now--you can grab it for only $20 at Amazon and Best Buy.

Mortal Kombat 11 Reveals Another New Character, The Kollector

about X hours ago from

Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm has given fans their first look at another playable character. During today's Kombat Kast livestream, the studio unveiled the Kollector, an entirely new fighter making his debut in the upcoming fighting game.

"A proud servant of the Outworld Empire, the Kollector cares only for his wealth and status and will kill anyone to keep it," NetherRealm said of the character. Much like Goro, the Kollector has four arms that he takes full advantage of in battle, as you can see in his reveal trailer above. The video also gives us a look at one of the Kollector's Fatalities, which sees him literally ripping an opponent apart.

The Kollector is the third brand-new playable character announced for MK 11 thus far. Earlier this week, NetherRealm revealed Cetrion, an Elder God capable of wielding elemental powers in battle. Before that, the studio unveiled Geras, the loyal servant of MK 11 boss Kronika. Geras has the power to conjure up objects made of sand and even manipulate time.

We're more than halfway through Season 8 of Fortnite now, which means players who have been keeping up with the game's weekly challenges should be getting close to unlocking this season's secret Legendary skin. In an uncharacteristic move, Epic Games has given fans an early glimpse at the outfit, and it looks very cool.

Battle Pass holders who manage to complete eight weeks' worth of challenges in Season 8 will unlock the Ruin skin. Epic revealed the ominous-looking outfit on Twitter, and while it didn't share any further details about the character or how it ties into the game's lore, it will presumably have something to do with the impending Season 9.

Xbox Live Gold Is Getting A Price Hike In The UK

about X hours ago from

Xbox Live Gold subscribers will soon need to pay more for their membership, as Microsoft confirms it's raising the price of its premium service across the UK. The new prices will take effect from May 8.

"To ensure gamers have consistent pricing for Xbox Live Gold across Europe we are making changes to UK pricing from May 8," a Microsoft spokesperson told GameSpot. "Prices will rise by £1 a month for our monthly subscriptions, £3 for our quarterly subscriptions, and by £10 a year for an annual membership. This new pricing is aligned to the changes we made in [Europe] in 2016 as we strive to offer our members premium gaming and entertainment services at a fair price. We have notified members whose accounts are on recurring billing in the UK so they are aware well in advance."

Taking the rise into account, the new cost for a month of Gold will be £7, while a quarterly subscription will set you back £18. A yearly subscription, which Microsoft says is its best-value option, will cost £50. The company did not state if its 6-month option, currently priced at £30, will see a price hike.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Gets 60Hz Update To Make Games Run Smoother

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has received yet another major update, and this one includes a series of significant changes, one of which should make most multiplayer games run smoother.

The new update available now "upgrade[s] the rate at which network packets are sent by the server" for Halo 2, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo. Additionally, the amount of data that individual packets can hold is increased. What this means is that each game should now run more smoothly and reliably. For Halo 3 specifically, the clients previously sent 15 packets per second, with the server sending 30 per second. But with the update, servers and clients send 60 packets per second. That puts it in line with the 60FPS frame rate.

Here's how Microsoft's Dana Jerpbak summed up the changes:

Halo: Reach Begins Beta Tests On PC And Xbox One This Month, See A Work-In-Progress Menu Image Here

Halo: Reach is coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One and PC, and now Microsoft has shared the first image of what the game looks like from the main menu. Microsoft shared a work-in-progress version of Reach in the campaign section of MCC on Xbox One. As you can see, it's left of Halo: CE, as it's a prequel to that game.

Halo: Reach is expected to come to both Xbox One and PC later this month through its first "flight" AKA beta test. To get in to the test, you need to register to become a Halo Insider, which you can do here. For PC, you'll need to upload your DxDiag and link your Steam ID.

The number of people who signed up already "blew away" Microsoft's expectations, the company said, so it further warns that it "simply cannot accomodate everyone."

The Division 2 Adding New Difficulty Mode And World Tier Soon; First Raid Gets A Release Date

about X hours ago from

The next big update for The Division 2 is coming very soon, and it adds a new, more challenging difficulty mode, as well as a new World Tier, weekly invasions, new weapons and gear, and more. Not only that, but the first raid is on the way at the end of the month.

The new update, Tidal Basin, is part of the first post-launch free content, Invasion: Battle for D.C., and it arrives on April 5--here's exactly when. It adds a new stronghold, Tidal Basin, which is occupied by the Black Tusk faction. "Tidal Basin is now home to some of the most powerful enemies in the game, and they're not going down easy," Ubisoft says.

Players who successfully complete the stronghold will rise to World Tier 5, and in turn this lets players get gear scores in the range of 450-500. Reaching World Tier 5 unlocks new weekly invasions that see Black Tusk enemies take over missions and strongholds throughout D.C. They are described as "harder" than other challenges, and the reward for completing them is better loot and gear.

Two Sonic Movie Trailers Arrive At CinemaCon; Here's What Happened In Them

about X hours ago from

Today at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Paramount Pictures presented new trailers and details for the next big video game movie: Sonic the Hedgehog. The event was not streamed and the trailers have not been released, but Gizmodo was in attendance and has a report.

One trailer shows a police officer patrolling a town called Green Hills, when he sees a blue object speed by; the office (played by James Marsden) looks at this speed gun and sees the blue blur is traveling at 760 mph. Of course it's later revealed to be Sonic.

"Marsden's officer finds Sonic in a house and is startled by him. Later they're in a car together and Sonic explains he's here to save the world," Gizmodo reported. "Meanwhile, a large tank comes up behind them, so Sonic jumps out of the car, races at the vehicle, and smashes through it. He thinks he's won, but then another vehicle drops from the remains of the previous one."
