New Trailer Gives The Lowdown On Hardware And Gear

Bethesda released a new trailer for their upcoming space shooter Prey today, showcasing some of the weapons and gear players will utilize as they make their way through the Talos 1 space station. Everything shown off in the trailer seems to go along with Prey's overarching goal of giving players unprecedented freedom, including antimatter grenades and the Gloo Cannon, which shoots a hardening foam that can block and immobilize opponents. You can check out the trailer down below.

Bethesda also released a trailer last week detailing Prey's Neural Modifier, a device that allows protagonist Morgan Yu to use various superhuman powers as he (or she) fights the Typhon infestation. You can check it out below.

New Developer Video Explores How Playtonic Brought 1990s Platforming Into The 21st Century

Playtonic is a team composed of ex-Rare developers who worked on legendary platformers like Banzo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64. It's fitting then, that their first title is an old-school throwback to the glory days of the mascot platformer. Yooka-Laylee wears its inspiration on its sleeve, and a new video from the team explores Playtonic's process of updating their classic mechanics for modern audiences.

Five Ways Outlast 2 Captures Mind-Bending Horror

Five Ways Outlast 2 Captures Mind-Bending Horror

When I played the original Outlast, I discovered quickly that I could never play it alone. As a solution, I roped in a friend to face the gory horrors of the asylum with me. Although terrifying, it was a memorable experience., Upon hearing that developer Red Barrels was planning a sequel, I was instantly excited.

Outlast 2 ditches the claustrophobic asylum hallways of the original and shifts to more open environments set in the Arizona desert. You play as an investigative journalist, camcorder in hand, who along with his wife looks into the mysterious murder of a Jane Doe. From what I’ve seen of the game so far, it is bloody, disgusting, controversial, and features more of a psychological tone than the previous installment. Here are five ways Outlast 2 captures mind-bending horror.

Catwoman Gets Cracking In New Gameplay Trailer

Another week, another Injustice 2 trailer. This time, NetherRealm studios has seen fit to grace fans with a new gameplay trailer showing off Catwoman's various moves and abilities. Fans also get a closer look at Injustice 2's Batcave, a new stage transition, and some quality Harley Quinn-Selina Kyle interaction. You can take a look at the full trailer down below.

Gameplay wise, Catwoman seems to have gotten a pretty big overhaul since the first Injustice, with new moves for her whip, a new trait that appears to allow her to command a cat, and a projectile dodge. She also shows off to a divekick, and an overhead cartwheel kick similar to the first Injustice's Batgirl. One thing that hasn't changed about the character is her speed and agility. Catwoman seems to be a very close-range character, relying on mixups and short-burst combo strings to do her damage. Time will tell how her moveset compares to other faster characters like Cheetah and Black Canary.

Finding The Potential Within Agents of Mayhem

Finding The Potential Within Agents of Mayhem

Agents of Mayhem is a spin-off in the Saints Row universe, and while the oversized personalities and open world of its progenitor may be something Saints Row fans immediately recognize in Agents of Mayhem, the game goes a different direction from its source material. The third-person shooter revels in switching between a trio of characters during combat to maximize each one's special abilities as you mow down Legion forces in a reimagined Seoul, South Korea. I recently got some hands-on time with a preview demo of the title (out on August 15 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC), and found a few key areas of potential that I'd like to see grow for the final product.

The Importance of Seoul

The game takes place in a near-future version of Seoul where Mayhem agents try to take down Legion - an organization seizing control of the world with weapons fueled by dark matter. The representation of the city, expressed through a vivid art style that pops off the screen, contains the usual mix of pedestrians, traffic, and the occasional loot box or collectible.

Sequel Announced With Cinematic Trailer

Today brings news that Sega is continuing its partnership with Creative Assembly and Games Workshop, following up on the success of the first Total War: Warhammer title with a full sequel. This newest project is steering toward launch on PC later in 2017. If the involved parties stick to that timeframe, it will be a very fast turnaround to get to to a sequel; Total War: Warhammer only released in mid-2016.

Sega has yet to reveal much about the gameplay distinctions in this installment compared to the first, but the publisher did share some details about what players can expect out of the story and setting. Players will be moving their troops through the continents far to the west of The Old World, where four major races from the long-running fiction are battling it out over The Great Vortex, a phenomenon that has hung over the elven homeland for many thousands of years. Players have the choice between High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, and one more as-yet unannounced playable race.

While the campaign unfolds on the western continents, Sega is also promising that an additional large campaign map that features areas of both the new and old world regions will launch at some point after initial launch of the game, and it will be free to any players who own both the original Total War: Warhammer game and its sequel.

The Bad Guys Come Out To Play In New Trailer

NetherRealm Studios dropped yet another trailer for upcoming DC-themed fighting game Injustice 2 today, this one brimming with evil character reveals like Captain Cold and Scarecrow. While fans have been speculating that these characters would be in the game for a while now based on leaks from the Injustice 2 mobile game and previous trailers, this is the first concrete confirmation that they will be playable when the game hits in May. Gorilla Grodd and Bane also get a chance to strut their stuff. You can get a look at the villainous shindig down below.

Similar to February's "Here Come The Girls" trailer, this trailer is more focused on character reveals than showing off gameplay. It does give a look at each character's super move, but if NetherRealm's recent rollouts have shown anything, character-specific trailers for each of these villains should be on their way soon.
