North American Release Date Announced, With Animated Opening

about X hours ago from

Atlus has revealed the North American release date for Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. Fans of the series can look forward to first-person dungeon crawling and seeing their favorite characters from Personas 3 and 4 interact when the game comes stateside.

The 3DS RPG released in Japan on June 5, and is the first of four new Persona titles announced for North America earlier this year. Atlus teamed up with the developers behind Etrian Odyssey for Shadow of the Labyrinth to create a hybrid dungeon-crawling RPG that combines the map-making and first-person perspective of Etrian with the characters and style of Persona.

Persona Q sees new characters join the cast members of Personas 3 and 4 as they team up to explore Yasogami High School’s eerie clock tower. Along the way, they battle shadows, talk to one another, and unravel a mystery. The game features a cutesy, chi-bi version of Persona’s signature artistic style, which you can see in the opening movie below. More importantly, the cinematic gives us a first glimpse of how Persona characters react to one another. Yu shakes Makoto’s hand, Rise seems to be helping Fuuka overcome her shyness, and Teddy turns into a real boy (!) to dance with Aegis. It’s very exciting.

Red 5 Reveals New End-Game Foes In Anticipation Of Launch

One week from now, after a lengthy time in development, we'll finally have our hands on Firefall, Red 5's free-to-play MMO shooter. In anticipation of the game's release, the studio unveiled two end-game monsters known as the Melding Titans, Baneclaw and Kanaloa the Destroyer.

The first of the giant enemies, Baneclaw, is a scarab who curls up and rolls around the battlefield to squash players. It also spawns smaller bugs known as hellclaw minions to distract its attackers.

Kanaloa, the lava worm featured in the trailer below, spits fire and swims through its magma pits to kick up molten rocks, hurling them at players as they try to avoid falling into their flame-filled doom. It has only a handful of vulnerable areas on its body, so players will have to coordinate carefully to defeat the beast.

Ubisoft Hammers On The Anvil Engine In New Video

Ubisoft is touting the latest version of its Anvil Engine, which powers the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity. According to creative director Alex Amancio, the new technology gives his team the opportunity to build more complex worlds.

Unity also features more complete interiors than we’ve seen in an Assassin’s Creed title. As you can see from the video below (and the previous gameplay run-throughs), the inside of buildings are as important for traversal and locomotion as the exteriors.

Hasbro Rolling Out Telepod Figures, Packs This Fall

We’ve known about Rovio and Hasbro’s collaboration on Angry Birds Transformers for a while, but today Hasbro unveiled new information on the upcoming associated toy product line, including all the available packs and date of release, and even reimagined iconic Transformers posters with an Angry Birds twist.

The plot of Angry Birds Transformers appropriately mimics the plot of the Transformers franchise. The mysterious Egg Spark crashes onto Piggy Island, transforming Red Bird into Optimus Prime bird, Chuck the Yellow Bird into Bumblebee bird, and the other island residents into Autobirds or Deceptihogs.

Angry Birds Transformers will use telepods to incorporate the collectable, transformable figures available in the packs into the game. Each physical figure can be transformed into either vehicle or robot mode, and then placed on the telepod to be replicated in the Angry Birds Transformers game with all-new special powers to be used in racing and battle modes.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy gave players the chance to orchestrate classic series anthems with their 3DS stylus, and Square Enix looks to capture that magic once again with Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. Now, with the sequel's release upcoming, Square Enix wants fans to perform Final Fantasy's main theme for real, and will reward entrants for doing so.

As part of the Legacy of Music campaign, Square Enix revealed it'll be hosting a contest, judged by series composer Nobuo Uematsu, in which fans submit a video of themselves performing the Final Fantasy main theme. Participants can perform the theme in any manner of their choosing, but the video must be no longer than one minute and 30 seconds, and must also include some kind of signage indicating the participant's favorite Final Fantasy title.

The grand prize winner will earn a slew of themed prizes: a complimentary trip for two to a Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy concert, official soundtracks for each main Final Fantasy titles, a Final Fantasy Static Arts mini figure, a collector's edition of the game signed by Uematsu himself, and a limited edition Curtain Call Japanese 3DS LL. For full details, watch the video below.

Naughty Dog Details Changes To Factions Multiplayer

Last week, we went hands-on with the single-player portion of The Last of Us Remastered Edition. The title looks great, especially when side-by-side with the original release on PlayStation 3. We didn’t get to see how the Factions multiplayer mode is shaping up though, but today we have some new information.

The Factions mode will be running at 1080p and targets 60 frames per second (just like the single-player mode, which is also variable and can be locked at 30 FPS). There have been some minor tweaks to the formula, also.

Multiplayer trophies no longer require you to complete the match without being killed. However, the number of downs or executions has been raised from three to five.

Madden 15 Reveals Top Rookie Ratings

Lots of rookies go from being the kings of their campuses to low men on the totem pole in the NFL, but nothing's as shocking as finding out your ratings in Madden NFL 15.

EA has released the player ratings for the top 13 overall rookies drafted in this past May, and in doing so projects seemingly good things for players like number one overall pick by the Texans, Jadeveon Clowney (83 overall); Bills' WR Sammy Watkins (93 speed, 88 catching); and Falcons' right tackle Jake Matthews (90 pass block). Left off the list were players picked in the real-life top 10 of the NFL draft like Vikings' linebacker Anthony Barr, Browns' corner Justin Gilbert, and Lions' TE Eric Ebron.

Johnny Football didn't make the top 13, but you can see his and others' reactions to hearing his player ratings in the game in the video below.

Link’s Power Gloves Came In Like A Wrecking Ball

Link, all you do is wre-e-eck me in this new video for Hyrule Warriors. The Hero of Time is wielding the Power Gloves (first appearance: Link to the Past), which give him the power to lift heavy objects, toss pillars of stone, and wield a wrecking ball-like morning star.

We’ve never seen Link hit so hard (in love), and we have no doubt that all he wants to do is break your walls. You can check out the video below.
