New NHL 15 Dev Diary Is All About The Players

NHL 15 marks the first time the series is coming to Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. A new developer diary from EA Sports shows how the developers are building players that take advantage of the additional horsepower.

According to the dev diary, the game's players are being built in three layers: The player themselves, as well as their padding and jerseys. The video shows how the fabric of the jerseys reacts to the action, whether it's shifting as players move on the ice or its struck by a passing puck. Players are also being designed to show more life during games, whether it's reacting to getting hit or by scoring a goal. In addition, players (meaning you) can choose how your team celebrates goals, whether it's going in for a group hug or showboating for the crowd.

In our post-E3 preview on the title, we noted that, despite many similarities to Dark Souls, the game makes attempts to set itself apart. Palutena Has Huge Attacks

Newcomer to Super Smash Bros. Lady Palutena was revealed at E3, and today we receive some insight into her huge attack range.

Referencing the screen you see above, director Masuhiro Sakurai wrote on the Miiverse, "I talked about an attack with a far reach in yesterday's post, but it didn't compare to Palutena's up smash attack! No joke, it reaches really far. It reached so far in this shot that even the rocketbarrels got blown up." He followed up with another screenshot, seen below, writing, "That said, if we're talking just about range, even that can't beat Palutena's power, Heavenly Light. It has quite a damage field. However, this is a no-flinch attack, which means the opponents won't react to the damage!"

The video doesn't provide much in the way of context. Instead, the footage pops you in the middle of battle. You'll get a good idea of how players can use traps to defend their constructions, while adding onto their forts in the middle of battle. There's a lot going on, so you might want to watch it a few times. When you're done, take a look at the images in the gallery below.
