Getting Stabby With A Clone In Styx: Master Of Shadows

about X hours ago from

Recently we shared a look at Styx: Master of Shadows that seemed pretty tame for fans of stealth games like Assassin’s Creed and Dishonored. Today, we get to dive a little deeper into what sets Styx apart in the killing industry.

The homicidal goblin can create a clone of himself, which opens up a number of tactical options. The doppelgänger can distract and murder on Styx’s behalf, and as you’ll see in the video, you can use the double strategically to take down groups of guards.

about X hours ago from

Forza Horizon 2 comes out on September 30 on Xbox One and Xbox 360, and when it does, gamers who've been playing any Forza games since Forza 2 will be rewarded for their activity. Regardless of how long you've been playing, Microsoft and developer Playground Games are also giving you a launch trailer today.

Forza Rewards is a monthly program that gifts players cars, in-game currency, and more based on what they do in Forza Horizon 2 and other Forza titles since Forza 2 (like how many miles they've driven, how many cars they've owned, etc.). The first installment rewards players of certain levels in Forza Horizon 2 with five cars that are not already DLC vehicles. The higher your tier, the better the car.

Watch 11 Minutes of Assassin's Creed Unity Co-Op

Ubisoft has released 11 minutes of gameplay from a co-op heist mission in Assassin's Creed Unity.

The video is narrated by creative director Alex Amancio and features a focus on coordinated attacks, theft, and escape. The video illustrates the nature of the new co-op gameplay that players will experience in Unity.

Heists are one of the types of co-op missions that include variable goals and guards, so they are designed to be replayable and offer something new each time.

Commercial Shows Fatal Frame In Action On Wii U

about X hours ago from

The Wii U seems like the perfect fit for a series like Fatal Frame, which pushes the player to use an in-game camera to photograph paranormal activity. In Fatal Frame 5: The Black-Haired Shrine Maiden, the Wii U gamepad is used to simulate this experience. A Japanese commercial gives us a brief look at this functionality in action: The player switches to the camera view, centers her shot by holding up the pad, and snaps a photo of a ghost.

The game hits Japanese store shelves and Wii U's digital shop on September 27. A U.S. release date has yet to be announced by publisher Nintendo or developer Koei Tecmo. For a longer look at Fatal Frame 5, check out the story trailer. You can also watch the Replay crew take a look at the series' origins.

City Planners Can Go Mobile In Upcoming Release

City Planners Can Go Mobile In Upcoming Release

EA has announced a new entry in the SimCity franchise, a mobile game called SimCity BuildIt. Rather than trying to port a previous release to smaller screens, this upcoming game looks like it's being engineered for Android and iOS devices.

Details are relatively sparse at this time, but we know that players can develop their communities to ensure that Sims are happy or antagonize them from above like angry gods. EA is promising high-quality graphics and an intuitive touch-based interface. There's no word on a release date, aside from a vague reference that it's "coming soon."

We'll also have to wait and see how the game will be sold. We're crossing our fingers that EA has indeed learned from its Dungeon Keeper misstep, which was riddled with microtransactions. It's certainly possible that players will have to wait for larger structures to be built (or pay to accelerate the process, a la The Simpsons Tapped Out), but it's too early to say.

Troy Baker And Nolan North Discuss Their Imagined Rivalry

Troy Baker And Nolan North Discuss Their Imagined Rivalry

Actors Troy Baker and Nolan North have appeared in significant roles in nearly every video game ever made, but the two rarely work so closely, as the duo discusses in the latest behind the scenes video for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Baker and North often appear in the same games, but rarely as interacting characters. Baker, for example, played Joel in the Last of Us, while North played David – two characters that did not interact. In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Baker plays protagonist Talion while North plays The Black Hand of Sauron. The two characters don't get along, but they definitely interact.

In the video below, Baker and North talk about their appreciation for Lord of the Rings and for the Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor script, and also talk about how most assume the two have a rivalry since they are both prominent performers in the world of video games.
