Ubisoft’s Downloadable Spin-off Becomes A Trilogy

Last September, Ubisoft revealed a new game called Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China in a preview video highlighting the Assassin’s Creed Unity season pass. This 2.5D, side-scrolling spin-off is still on the way as a freebie for season-pass holders, and will be available separately for $10 in late April, but that’s only the beginning. Ubisoft is releasing two more Chronicles games by this fall (set in India and Russia) for an additional $10 each, or as part of a $25 trilogy bundle. We got a couple hours of hands-on time with the games, and here’s what we know so far.

ChinaThe first installment takes place in China in 1526, with a watercolor-painting aesthetic. You control Shao Jun, best known for her appearance in Assassin’s Creed Embers, the epilogue video for Revelations. The game begins as she returns from her training in Italy with Ezio Auditore (whom you see in flashbacks during tutorial sequences). A templar gang called the Tigers has slaughtered and driven out almost all of the Chinese assassins. Shao Jun is out to eliminate those in power one by one to restore the order of assassins to -her -homeland.

New Trailer Focuses On Virtual Reality Peripherals

A new trailer has surfaced for Stillalive's action-adventure game Son of Nor, which releases for PC, Mac, and Linux tomorrow. The video focuses on how the game leverages emerging technology like the Emotiv EPOC, Tobii Eye X, and Oculus Rift.

Son of Nor takes place in the fictional world of Noshras, in a vast desert where humans and reptilian beasts battle each other. With the Emotiv EPOC headset, which reads brainwave patterns, players can cast spells with their mind by visualizing the action in their head. The Emotiv EPOC can be used alongside the Tobii Eye X, a tracking tool that follows your gaze. For example, you can pick up and throw large boulders just by staring at them. In comparison, the Oculus Rift can only be used on its own, but creates more immersion for the player.

Watch the video below to see how these peripherals change the game experience.

Six Ways Rainbow Six Siege Is Reinvigorating The Tactical Shooter

about X hours ago from

At the start of the Xbox 360 generation, the Rainbow Six Vegas games were two of the most highly rated and popular military shooters. In the seven years since, a lot has changed. Call of Duty became a multi-billion dollar juggernaut, Battlefield found its footing in the console space, and new games like Insurgency joined the fray to fill the tactical void created by Team Rainbow's long absence.

After a promising reboot was shelved due to development troubles, Ubisoft Montreal is finally gearing up to re-enlist its beloved series for another tour of duty. Rainbow Six Siege preserves many of the tenants of the series - tactical gameplay, close-quarters firefights, and a heavy focus on competitive multiplayer - but the years away from battle has made Ubisoft reexamine what makes the series special. The development team is experimenting with ways to re-enter the competitive multiplayer space not with a stealth maneuver, but with a loud and impactful breaching charge that disrupts the landscape and potentially gives the series a leg up on its direct competitors.

Alternate Spartan Locke Trailer Shows Master Chief's Side Of The Story

It's still incredibly ambiguous, but at least we're getting both sides of not-yet-clear story.

Shortly after showcasing a trailer with Spartan Locke confronting Master Chief for his presumed treachery, another trailer appeared online with the roles reversed and new set of accusations being levied against a different soldier.

You can check out the trailer below, as well as the alternate trailer here. This new trailer also reconfirms Halo 5: Guardians' October 27 release date.

Halo 5's Spartan Locke Trailer Presents More Questions Than It Answers, Reveals October Launch

Why is everyone so mad at Master Chief? Why is everything shambles? How did that statue escape destruction? There are many new questions, but at least one previous question has been answered: the release date.

This, as well as last weeks teaser trailer and ambiguous information tease, all seem to be painting Master Chief as some kind of traitor. Something he did, caused something bad to happen, and everyone is upset. It even seems to hint that maybe you don't play as Master Chief in Halo 5 and instead hunt him down.

The trailer also revealed the game's release date. Halo 5 released October 27.

Persona 4's Chie Satonaka Shows Off Her Moves

The latest trailer for Persona's rhythm offshoot features Chie Satonaka and her iconic green jacket getting her groove on.

Persona is a series particularly impressive for being able to ride a strange line between terrifying creepy and colorful saccharine that it's technically not too surprising to see its characters dancing. Despite that though, it's hard not to recall that recently, in games like Persona 4 and Persona Q, this cast was fighting monsters in dungeons.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night launches on Vita in Japan in June and is planned for release in North America some time this year.
