Windward Hoists The Main Sail And Sets For Release

Open-world pirate game Windward has emerged from early access and is now sailing the open waters of full release. The title, which we covered previously, allows players to captain a ship and upgrade it in the style of an MMO.

The world is procedurally generated, so players sailing across Windward’s oceans. Those that make it to the end game can even captain a blimp. (We know that isn’t a sea-faring vessel, but it’s a blimp. Blimps are cool.)

Hands-On With Double Damage Games' Outer Space Adventure

about X hours ago from

I’ve been eager to get my hands on Rebel Galaxy since I first got wind of the project. The team at Double Damage is crafting a simple-to-play space simulation, but one with beautiful science-fiction visuals and an expansive, open galaxy to explore. I spent an afternoon flying through Rebel Galaxy, trying out ship customization, story missions, and most of all, explosive space combat. I can’t wait to play more.

In many ways, Rebel Galaxy skews towards simplicity over complexity, especially in comparison with many other outer space ship games. While space is vast, your ship moves along a flat plane, as if the expanse of space is an ocean rather than a sky. Rather than fly a tiny one-manned fighter, you’re maneuvering large freighters and capital ships through the asteroids and debris of space.

As a result, anyone who has played Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag or Rogue is likely to feel a sense of familiarity. The developers told me some weeks ago that Ubisoft’s flagship franchise and its naval experience was indeed an inspiration, but Double Damage has added a lot of other features to give Rebel Galaxy the depth it needs to stand on its own.

Magnetic: Cage Closed Attracts A Release Date This Month

At first glance, you might be tempted to call Magnetic: Cage Closed a “Portal clone.” While the two titles certainly have elements in common, Magnetic does its own thing by testing the player’s morals as well as reasoning.

In the video below, you’ll see some of the tricky gameplay uses for the magnet gun. Guru Games also shows off one of the “choice cubes,” in which you’ll be confronted with a moral dilemma.

FreeStyle Games Reveals Initial Song List

Activision previously told us that Guitar Hero Live's GHTV mode would feature "hundreds" of songs at launch, but the actual offerings have yet to be detailed outside of the three songs we played during our hands-on time with the game. Now, however, we have a much clearer picture of what we'll be rocking out to later this year.

As FreeStyleGames has indicated, the setlist features a diverse collection of artists spanning several genres. We already knew that the Black Keys' "Gold on the Ceiling," Fall Out Boys' "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark," and The Killers' "When You Were Young" were on the setlist, but we now know that those tracks are joined by a bunch of new tracks from artists we already knew would be appearing, as well as a bunch of previously unannounced artists. You can check out the first wave of tracks coming to Guitar Hero Live and GHTV below.

Activision and FreeStyleGames will be announcing new tracks each week, further bolstering the line-up. Guitar Hero Live is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, iOS, and Android later this year. To learn more about the drastic shake-ups to the franchise's gameplay, you can check out our hands-on with the game, or the initial announcement.
