Platinum Games Shows You How To Train Your Dragon

about X hours ago from

Players got another extended look at Scalebound during E3 2016. This demo focused on co-op gameplay and a gigantic boss fight.

Though story details are still sparse, we can clearly see that Drew, the human character, has some kind of connection with his dragon, Thuban. The two sync up attacks while fighting a giant crab and Thuban even swoops in to catch Drew when he's in danger. Partnering up with a giant dragon or other players seems to make Scalebound's action gameplay even more frantic.

The game is due out sometime next year for Xbox One and PC. For more on Scalebound, check out our impressions from Gamescom.

Delving Further Into The Fractured But Whole

Ubisoft got plenty of laughs with its stage demo of South Park: The Fractured But Whole during its press conference yesterday, but there's more to the super-hero-spoofing RPG than fart jokes. Here are some of the big changes and improvements we learned about from our extended hands-off demo.

The Next Evolution Gives An Strong Early Impression

Tekken 7 has been available to play in Japanese arcades for over a year, but the home release – as well as any appearance in the U.S. – has kept fans of the series waiting. At Microsoft's E3 2016 press conference, it was revealed that Tekken 7 is launching worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2017. I went hands-on with the upcoming brawler well ahead of the release and came away impressed with what I saw.

Tekken 7 is the first game in the series to use Unreal Engine 4, and the results are strong. The characters are finely detailed and move smoothly in both matches and cutscenes.

In addition to a strong cast of returning characters, Tekken 7 introduces five new characters, in addition to Akuma, the great demon, from the Street Fighter series. From Josie, a new fighter from the Philippines, to Shaheen, one of the first playable Middle Eastern characters to appear in the series, the latest additions are diverse, colorful, and possess traits that reflect their cultures. I was able to see Lucky Chloe, probably the most unique addition to Tekken 7's roster, in action. With headphones on and cat paws in tow, she dances her way through matches with her colorful outfit and personality.

Frank West Gets An Exosuit In The Ludicrously Fun Dead Rising 4

about X hours ago from

Yesterday, Microsoft announced that the next installment of the Dead Rising saga was coming to Xbox One. Even though the news leaked like a speared zombie, I was excited to learn more about Dead Rising 4. Today I got to play a quick demo, where I snapped a few pictures, ripped off a few dozen heads, and pummeled some zombies with Christmas-present boxing gloves.

Like the trailer’s soundtrack implied, the game is set in Willamette, Colorado, right around Christmas time. As such, Frank can incorporate a variety of holiday-themed weapons into his zombie slaying. One of the big changes to the game is that Frank can hold weapons into different quick-access inventory slots, letting him quickly swap from a ranged to a melee weapon. For instance, I cleared the nighttime streets with explosive arrows, and could instantly pull out my electrified battle axe to take care of any stragglers.

PS4 Exclusive Spider-Man Game Revealed At E3

about X hours ago from

A couple of new screenshots for Spider-Man for PS4 show off the crime-fighting protagonist in HD as he traverses around New York. The PS4 exclusive was announced during the Sony E3 press conference, revealing Insomniac Games as the developer.

Pre-E3 some rumors swirled that Sucker Punch was the one working on the title, and clearly those turned out to be false. No release date was provided for the game, and Spider-Man PS4 is referred to as a working title by Insomniac's web page for the game. It has also been confirmed by Insomniac president Ted Price that the game will have no connection to the 2017 future release of the Spider-Man: Homecoming Marvel film.

You can also check out the trailer below, which shows off some masked enemies, web-slinging combat, and the New York City environment.

Your Choices Matter In This Tense Sci-Fi Thriller

The latest from Quantic Dream and David Cage questions the decision-making capabilities of androids. No release date has been given for this PlayStation 4 exclusive.

A new trailer was shown at Sony's press conference yesterday that revolved around a hostage situation on a roof. Players control Connor, an android with no rights, who is working with the police. As seen in the footage, he can talk down the hostile android or use violence to rescue the little girl held prisoner. Branching decisions allow for a number of different ways for the situation to play out, as is typical for Quantic Dream gameplay.

The game is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and there will be more than one playable character. To learn more about the game's unique setting, check out our video interview with David Cage.

Prepare For Adventure With The Legendary Trico

After years of waiting, fans finally have a release date for The Last Guardian. The game comes exclusively to PlayStation 4 on October 25.

After resurfacing last year, The Last Guardian appeared again at Sony's E3 press conference with a heart-warming trailer and the news of an official release date. Many believed the spiritual successor to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus would never arrive, but the PS4 exclusive lands in October.

The gameplay demo at last year's show hinted at a lot of exploration and platforming, with the help of your furry and feathery friend. Much of the game's story and setting remains a mystery,  but all will be revealed on October 25.

Coon And Friends Need You For Newest Superhero RPG Adventure

about X hours ago from

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone graced the E3 stage once again to show off their squeal to South Park: The Stick of Truth. During the Ubisoft conference we got a good look at both cut-scenes and gameplay for South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

The South Park boys will be leaving the world of wizards and warlocks in the previous title to tackle crime as superheros. Their alias Coon and Friends was developed within the TV show, and now they will transfer to the video game world as well. You will return as "the new kid", allowing you to customize your avatar and choose the class of superhero you wish to be.

Wonderfully Paving The Way For Kingdom Hearts III

about X hours ago from

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is setting the stage for Kingdom Hearts III. When it was announced last September, I expected that Square Enix would provide fans one last remaster, allowing them to get caught up with the series before its new, long-awaited entry. What I didn’t expect, however, was that it would include a new episode that would give us a taste of some of Kingdom Hearts III’s gameplay.

Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage is what I’m most looking forward to out of the collection. Sure, it’s nice to have it also include Dream Drop Distance (especially since it only released previously on 3DS) and Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover (a movie shedding light on the Foretellers), but A Fragmentary Passage is completely new content and stars Aqua (one of my favorite characters). I was lucky enough to get hands-on with a beginning portion of this episode, and I enjoyed what I played.

For those not in the know, A Fragmentary Passage is set to answer questions left lingering about keyblade-wielder Aqua and be a good lead in to Kingdom Hearts III. The duration of the episode should only be a few hours, but it was created using similar development tools to Kingdom Hearts III. Consider it a brief preview to Kingdom Hearts III’s gameplay.

Fight To Take Down The Mexican Drug Cartel

The latest Ghost Recon: Wildlands demo showed off the game's extensive co-op gameplay, as well as a variety of extraction tactics. A release date of March 17, 2017 was confirmed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

During Ubisoft's E3 press conference, an extensive demo showed off how four players can team up to complete missions in the game. The target in the mission shown was housed in an abandoned city and players needed use to use a number of vehicles, including motorcycles and helicopter to complete the objective. Stealth was an option, though by the end, the team was engaged in a full-on firefight.

This mission showed off the many ways a mission can be tackled in Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Below you can see the newest screenshots from the game, featuring various Bolivian environments.
