Assassin's Creed Origins Update Fixes Beards, Other Things

Ubisoft just released an update for the PlayStation 4 version of Assassin's Creed Origins, which addresses a number of balancing issues, bugs, and – most importantly – beards. It's only available on Sony's console, but it's coming soon to Xbox One and PC.

After the update, you won't have to manually restore your missing beard and longer hair after restarting the game or desynchronizing. In addition, there are some balance tweaks such as making lower-level enemies more challenging when you're playing on hard mode.

Ubisoft says it's a 1.3 GB download on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (the latter of which is due to hit on November 20), but they aren't saying when the PC version of the update is coming or how large it will be.

Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 provided some of the first details about The Surge's upcoming DLC, A Walk in the Park, late last month, and today the companies have announced when players can get their tickets punched. The expansion, which takes place in a company amusement park gone off the rails, is heading our way in early December.

It's coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 5, to be specific. It's set in CREO World, an amusement park set up for the corporation's employees and their families. As you can see in the trailer below, things go south. Let's be honest here – if they didn't, would it be worth playing?

Saints Row's Kinzie Joins Agents Of Mayhem As DLC

Kinzie, the hacker genius from Saints Row 3, 4, and Gat Out of Hell, is joining the Agents of Mayhem cast via paid DLC.

Known in Agents of Mayhem as Safeword, her introduction video seems to ignore the entirety of her adventures in Saints Row, suggesting that none of it ever happened. Her animated intro still has her displaying the same personality, however, which she can in employ in the main game and her own set of specialized missions.

You can check out the animated trailer below. Kinzie will be available as DLC today for $4.99.

Valve Instituting Steam-Wide "Trust Factor" System For Counter-Strike: GO Matchmaking

Valve Instituting Steam-Wide

The only thing Valve loves more than money is algorithms and they have figured out a way to apply said algorithms to help lessen the wild west that is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive cheating.

The new "Trust Factor" system that Valve has announced today looks at your behavior in all Steamworks-enabled multiplayer games, like Left 4 Dead 2 or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or DOTA2, and decides what group of players you should be playing with in Counter-Strike. In other words, if you're reported a lot for cheating in other games, or generally just being a toxic player, you get matched up with people who have similar dossiers.

It's sort of like an actual game of Battlegrounds but no one wins.

Russia Used Screenshots Of Mobile Game To Prove U.S. Collusion With ISIS

On November 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense littered its social media with pictures of what it claimed was "irrefutable evidence" that the U.S. had been colluding with ISIS in Syria, which was then proven to be a screenshot from mobile game AC-130 Gunship Simulator: Special Ops Squadron.

The tweets, which have since been deleted, showed what seemed to be satellite images of trucks traveling down a desert road, which Russian intelligence claimed were ISIS soldiers leaving a town with U.S.-provided supplies. Within hours, people noticed the similarities to a AC-130's trailer, though the image posted by Russian intelligence had been blurred and removed identifying markers by cropping them off the bottom.

The pictures were later replaced with different pictures without any explanation.

This NES Laptop Mod Outshines The Classic Edition

Someone over on Reddit’s gaming subreddit posted a gif of a modification to a NES console that adds a built-in monitor, essentially turning the system into a laptop that plays NES games.

Reddit user systemofadingus posted the gif, but who modified the console is unclear. Reddit being Reddit, the top comment is someone complaining the cartridge never gets pushed down into the console. To me, that doesn’t detract from this things awesomeness. It’s no PlayStation 3 grill, but at least this console plays games.

Are there any console modifications you’ve been particularly jealous of? Let me know in the comments below.

Belgian Gaming Commission Is Investigating Battlefront II And Overwatch

Belgian Gaming Commission Is Investigating Battlefront II And Overwatch

Belgium's gaming commission, a government entity that oversees and licenses games of chance, has announced that they are looking at video games like Overwatch and Star Wars: Battlefront II for possible categorization as gambling, Belgian TV reports.

In 1999, Belgium banned games of chance except for those explicitly licensed by the country's gaming commission, explicitly banning all gambling in the country that had not been licensed already. The commission is currently investigating whether lootboxes in Overwatch and Battlefront II violate these laws for its luck-based results.

"Therein lies the problem. It depends on luck and at that point you're gambling," gambling commission director Peter Naessens told VTM news. "If we are dealing with a game of chance, they need to have a permit."
