Paladins Getting Battle Royale Mode

Free team-based shooter and Overwatch clone Paladins is getting a battle royale mode called Paladins: Battlegrounds.

Announced during today's Hi-Rex Expo, the mode features 100 players and their teams fighting over loot to be the last ones standing. The mode will take place on a map much larger (around 300 times larger) than the average Paladins map. The mode will also let players choose their character class and will allow the use of character abilities, as well as mounts.

The free mode is coming this year, preceded by a beta at some point.

Tyler Barriss Facing Felony Charges For Fatal Swatting Call

Tyler Barriss, who goes by the handle "SWAuTistic" online, has been charged with a felony count of false alarm for his role in the police shooting of Andrew Finch after a Call of Duty argument.

The charge, which is a result of Bariss calling in a fake hostage situation to Wichita, Kansas police from his home in Los Angeles, California, has Bariss declared a fugitive. He stood in court in Los Angeles today where he confirmed that he was the man being charged in Kansas and would not fight extradition to Kansas.

At the moment, Bariss is only being charged with giving false information when making a police or fire department call, but could be brought up on greater charges when brought to Wichita. Such charges, if they're decided to be appropriate, would come after police have finished their investigation and prosecutors have reviewed it.

Uncharted: Lost Legacy Creative Director/Writer Leaves Naughty Dog

Shaun Escayg, the Creative Director and Writer for Uncharted: Lost Legacy, has left Naughty Dog.

Escayg joined Naughty Dog in the beginning stages of The Last of Us and has been a part of every major Naughty Dog project since, including the Left Behind DLC, Uncharted 4, and obviously Lost Legacy. He confirmed his departure on Twitter today and then later posted the Avengers logo on his Instagram commenting on new adventures, suggesting he might be joining Crystal Dynamics on their unnamed Avengers title.

We spoke with Escayg last year about Uncharted: Lost Legacy, which you can find below. We should hopefully find out what his next project is soon.

Miiverse Has Been Archived After Complete Shutdown

Last year, Nintendo called it quits on the Miiverse, the Wii U and 3DS message board that had drawings, text posts, and screenshots for people to share with fellow owners. Now, fans and engineers have officially archived those bright few years of innocent questions of why can't Metroid crawl.

Lead by Drastic Actions, the full archive is on a website called Archiverse. The entire thing came out to 17 terabytes of data, or 17,000,000 MB, made up of 216,901,986 Replies,133,003,599 Posts, 75,955,135 Screenshots, 72,135,190 Drawings, and 8,278,693 User Profiles.

You can access the website and search through to find all the posts about water you can shake a stick at. Nintendo also had individual profiles available to download, but the deadline for requesting and/or accessing them has passed.

Japanese-Exclusive Tingle Game Gets Fan Translation

Japanese-Exclusive Tingle Game Gets Fan Translation

Nintendo thinks Tingle is weird enough to make games of, but maybe too weird to localize said games. The second Tingle game never made it out in English, but fans have finally brought their favorite fairy-person to English-speakers with a fan translation of Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love.

Released in 2009, Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love was a sequel to Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. Both games, as anyone with a familiarity with the character from his various Legend of Zelda incarnations might guess, focus on the small green human (??) and his lust for rupees.

While Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland came out in Japan and Europe on the DS (Nintendo of America declined to release the game in the United States), the sequel stayed exclusive to Japan. Fans in Europe were unhappy about this after getting the last game and launched a translation project in 2011 that has only just been completed.

Insurgency: Sandstorm Cancels Single-Player And Cooperative Campaigns

Developer New World Interactive has nixed their plans to add a story campaign, both single-player and cooperative, to Insurgency: Sandstorm as it gets ported to consoles.

The third game in the Insurgency series was to feature an ambitious single-player story mode. The campaign was to feature an Iraqi rebel fighter and her best friend on a personal mission in an Iraqi warzone, accompanied by an American soldier and a French rookie. The campaign was designed to be played either single-player or up to four player-cop.

Unfortunately, New World has decided to adjust their priorities and focus on the multiplayer aspects, cancelling the campaign.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Story DLC Might Come In June

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Story DLC Might Come In June

A leak from the Japanese eShop page for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle's expansion pass suggests the first story DLC for the game will land in June, at least in Japan.

The XCOM-like strategy RPG is soon to release in Japan and is being published by Nintendo, so its blurbs differ slightly on the eShop pages for the game and its DLC. Twitter account @SwitchIndie caught the information when perusing the game's expansion pass page, with one piece of upcoming DLC with a June 30 date.

Ubisoft and Nintendo gave vague details of the DLC, which includes a new hero, in November. If the DLC is coming out in June, it might be more substantial than expected. It might also be a placeholder date at the end of a quarter. DLC is coming, at this point it is just a question of when, and June looks like the best bet so far.
