Announced at Blizzcon, the Overwatch map Blizzard World has been long awaited by fans. Thankfully, no one will have to wait long, as the map will see wide release on January 23.
The map is a Blizzard love letter, something warranted by a company that boasts fans happily obsessive enough to sustain an annual convention. The map is full of Blizzard's history, both modern and ancient, and will be a delight for fans to explore. More than that, though, reports from the PTR are that the hybrid map is itself quite fun to play, and its Assault and Payload halves are both well balanced.
Jeff Kaplan recently outlined the team's plans for the new year, including new maps and new heroes that are being internally tested right now, though there's no word on when those might be revealed.

A Canadian man is facing charges in British Columbia after engaging in repetitive flooding of Twitch chat with racist and vulgar messages, according to CBC News.
The federal charges against the 20 year-old Brandon Apple were filed yesterday, utilizing an uncommon charge of "mischief in relation to computer data." Apple is accused of spamming 150,000 chat messages to over 1000 channels over the course of two months in 2017. Apple utilized a chat flooding program called ChatSurge, which boasts of its ability to "flood, destroy or simply demolish any Twitch.tv chatroom," while under the username Ob Noxious.
After Twitch discovered the attack, Twitch sought a court order to determine Apple's identity. The order lists a few of Apple's comments used in the chatbot, such as "Get the black guy outta here! What a ***," and "Death to all jews Death to all jews." Reportedly, the chatbot also linked to sexual content involving children. Twitch alleges in the report that Apple's chatbot was sending 700 messages a minute at its zenith.

Another entry into the Square-Enix contest of title mouthfuls, Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omina is coming out in English for Final Fantasy fans to enjoy on Android and iOS.
Originally released in January in Japan, the free-to-play mobile title functioned as a companion piece to the then-arcade Dissidia title now coming to PlayStation 4. Opera Omina functions more like a traditional Final Fantasy game than the PS4 fighter and even has a few more characters than the main Dissidia game.
Opera Omina was created as a rest world for heroes between their recurrent battles in Dissidia, but it too eventually starts crumbling. The heroes are tasked with finding enough light to help restore the world with graphics that resemble the PlayStation 1-era Final Fantasy games. You can also join together both heroes and villains, so putting Kefka and Sephiroth with Aerith is perfectly reasonable, if not super weird for her.

EA and DICE have released the year's first Battlefront II update, which adds Iden Versio's custom TIE Fighter into multiplayer matches, puts the Crait map into the Blast game mode, and tweaks a variety of weapons and characters.
The biggest addition is Versio's ship. It comes equipped with an afterburner, laser barrage, dual proton torpedoes, and her innate inferno leader ability, which marks all enemies within her range for allies and makes those targets more vulnerable to all damage. In addition, the Crait map has been added to the Blast game mode.
