Ronda Rousey Staying In EA Sports UFC 3 Despite WWE Contract

Despite announcing her move to become a full-time professional wrestler with the WWE last night, Ronda Rousey will remain in UFC 3 for the time being, an EA Sports representative confirmed to us.

Rousey, at one point the most dominant champion and biggest draw in the UFC, shared the cover of EA Sports' UFC 2 with Conor McGregor. Rousey lost her bantamweight belt to Holly Holm in November 2015, and hasn't fought since her comeback loss against champion Amanda Nunes in 2016. Rousey is currently the ninth-ranked women's bantamweight in the UFC according the official UFC rankings.

In 2016, WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar returned to the Octagon for a bout with Mark Hunt. However, Lesnar was not added to the roster of UFC 2, which released a few months earlier, presumably because of licensing complications with his WWE contract.

Monster Hunter: World Sets Series Record For Copies Shipped

Monster Hunter: World is already a critical success, and Capcom is betting big on its sales as well. The company has announced that it has already shipped five million copies of the game worldwide in the three days since its release, breaking a series record.

Those five million shipped are a good start. To put the figure in some perspective, Capcom says the series has sold more than 45 million copies worldwide since it debuted in 2004.

The game has plenty of back-and-forth moments, including turning a Brady INT into points heading into the fourth quarter.

Did You Know Gaming Explores How Portal Could Have Ended

Did You Know Gaming, a YouTube series about gaming trivia, recently posted a video about several different games' scrapped endings. The video looks at Metal Gear Solid V, Portal 1 & 2, Drawn to Life, and more, to take a deeper look at scrapped ending ideas developers ultimately put aside, as well as accidental secret endings.

For example, the video discusses how Hideo Kojima's original vision for the ending of Metal Gear Solid V had to be cut, and only a segment of it can be viewed on a bonus blu-ray disc. Another interesting tidbit is Valve's different ending ideas for Portal, such as having Chell utter "yes" at the end of the game to deactivate Wheatley. These would have been her only words through the entirety of the game.

Shadow Of The Colossus Dev Diary Looks At What Goes Into Recreating A Classic

Shadow of the Colossus is one of my favorite games. I know of few other games that can bring so much life to a bleak world, and inspire both fear and awe while battling colossal beasts. The Fumito Ueda classic from 2005 is soon heading to PS4 with a slew of improvements and modern graphics. Recently, the PlayStation Blog released a new developer diary that gives us some quick insight into what went into rebuilding the classic.

Remaking a game with such a strong following made for a lot of pressure for the team. It's a high bar, but Bluepoint believes they succeeded. "When we take on a game that has Shadow [of the Colossus]'s prestige, a lot of responsibility comes with it that you can't just brush off," Bluepoint Games producer Randall Lowe says.

The team expresses that they don't see this project as a remaster, but instead a full remake "from the ground up." Bluepoint's president Marco Thrush talks about dealing with certain expectations, and how they implemented modern controls and the ability to swap to classic controls at any given time.

YouTuber Forges Real-Life Version Of Shovel Knight's Shovel Sword

Man At Arms: Reforged, a YouTube show that creates replicas of weapons from pop-culture, has dedicated its latest video to Shovel Knight. Man At Arms' creations require a team of talented swordsmiths, and this latest weapon is no different despite it being a little on the goofy side.

In the video, the team recounts how they built a life-sized replica of Shovel Knight's Shovel Sword. Like in the game, it looks just like a giant shovel, but its blade is also incredibly sharp. At the end of the video, we see the Man At Arms team "playtest" the weapon, where it cleanly slices through a watermelon and a jug of milk.

Street Fighter V's Ryu and Sakura Coming To Monster Hunter: World

Capcom has announced that Street Fighter V outfits (Ryu and Sakura) are coming to Monster Hunter: World. This announcement comes soon after Capcom revealed plans for a crossover between franchises Monster Hunter and Street Fighter, such as bringing Rathalos, Zinogre, and Kirin Monster Hunter armor for Ken, R. Mika, and Ibuki in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

As detailed on the Capcom Unity blog, these Street Fighter V-themed armor sets in Monster Hunter: World can't be mixed with other armor pieces. Both sets of armor can be equipped by both male and female hunters, and you can even change your character's voice to match Ryu's or Sakura's.

The Xenogears Soundtrack Is Getting A Remaster

The Xenogears soundtrack, beloved by many as one of the best in RPG genre, is getting a remaster.

The re-recording of the soundtrack comes by way of original composer Yasunori Mitsuda and Anúna (an Irish choir group), as posted by Mitsuda on his Facebook page and confirmed by Square Enix. The soundtrack, which in Japan is called "The First and the Last" will be available in April, in 96khz/24 bits via Blu-ray music disc (yes, those exists), and include a few new tracks.

Although its soundtrack is good enough to warrant a remaster, it's no slouch as an RPG, making it into our list of the Top 100 RPGs of all time.
