March Cover Revealed – Metro Exodus

After two successful games sets in the post-apocalyptic Moscow underground, the Metro series is ready for its moment in the sun. Ever since we watched the impressive debut footage at Microsoft's last E3 press conference, we were eager to learn more about Artyom's journey through the irradiated Russian countryside and how developer 4A Games hopes to pair the traditional, linear Metro experience with some of the open spaces and focused exploration of its progenitor – S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. This past month, we journeyed to 4A Games' headquarters on the gorgeous Mediterranean island of Malta to find these answers and more.

The 14-page cover story that emerged from our visit is packed with new details about Metro Exodus. We sat down with creative director Andriy "Prof" Prokhorov, executive producer Jon Bloch, and others to discuss 4A Games' move from Kiev to Malta, chronicle the tricky task of evolving Metro from linear to open play spaces, and learn just how large these sandbox spaces get (we're talking orders of magnitude larger than anything in Last Light). 4A Games also shared many smaller details series fans won't want to miss. The feature touches on how weapon customization is changing in Exodus, the brand-new crafting system, and much more.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition Supports Breath Of The Wild Amiibo

In case you were wondering whether the definitive edition of Hyrule Warriors would be updated for the newer Zelda amiibos, Nintendo has your answer.

The Japanese website for Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition on Switch indicates that Breath of the Wild amiibo will be supported – namely Archer Link, Horseback Link, and Zelda. If any of the Champion amiibos are also supported, they are not listed on the website, though it is possible other Zelda amiibos function much the way they did in the Wii U game by offering more weapon drops than normal amiibo.

It's like the three listed on the site get you the Link and Zelda Breath of the Wild costumes teased in the original trailer. The original game on Wii U had weapons (like Twilight Princess' Spinner) that could only be unlocked with the appropriate amiibo, so it still remains a question whether the Breath of the Wild costumes and amiibo weapons will be similarly locked in the Switch version.

Rainbow Six Siege's Latest Outbreak Trailer Teases A New Kind Of Threat

Ubisoft plans to kick off the third season of Rainbow Six Siege in roughly a month. The first batch of new content, Operation Chimera, includes a special event called Outbreak that sounds different from anything we've seen from the title thus far.

This free, cooperative event takes place in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, which has been quarantined after a crashed space capsule unleashes a devastating parasite that is turning the town's residents into monsters. Choosing your operators of choice from a list of eligible soldiers (including two new ones), you and two other friends must venture into the quarantine zone and neutralize the threat. The three maps included in Outbreak are much larger than the traditional Rainbow Six Siege maps, promising a new type of experience.

You can watch the new teaser trailer for the event here:

Report: Layoffs And Cancellations At Capcom Vancouver, Scaling Down For New Dead Rising

There have been "significant" layoffs at Capcom Vancouver, the studio heading the Dead Rising series, according to a report by Kotaku.

The layoffs have affected multiple projects, including cancellation of a third-person action game set in an alternative reality New York that was still in a prototype stage. It also downscales a new Dead Rising project the studio has been working on, lessening the scope on the project that had reportedly become unwieldy.

Capcom Vancouver is responsible for Dead Rising 2 and its Frank West-lead remake, Dead Rising 3, Dead Rising 4, and the recently-released PS4 port of Dead Rising 4 titled Frank's Big Package. The studio also just began support for the free-to-play Puzzle Fighter game on mobile phones.
