Kerbal Space Program: Making History Expansion Releasing March 13

It's been a long time in the making, but Private Division and Squad have finally revealed that Kerbal Space Program's first expansion, Making History, is releasing on March 13 on PC.

The physics-based engineering game got its expansion announcement in March of last year and, almost a year to the date, is seeing the light of day. Making History contains a historical missions pack, which gives pre-designed scenarios for players to work through based on historical examples.

More excitingly, however, Making History also comes with the Mission Builder, which allows players to create, design, and edit their own Kerbal missions. "Players can customize their own missions to include launches, landings, rescues, malfunctions, explosions, repairs, and much more," says Private Division. "Unique victory conditions, exciting challenges, and unexpected obstacles provide an array of complexity in these missions."

Detroit Developer Quantic Dream Pushes Back Against Toxicity Accusations

Quantic Dream, the studio headed by French video game developer David Cage and best known for games like Heavy Rain and the upcoming Detroit, released a statement today concerning accusations of toxic corporate culture. The developer is pushing back against the claims and suggests they will be pursuing legal action.

Last month, three separate French newspapers released reports about a hostile workplace, where employees were subjected to sexual misconduct to racist, sexist, and harassing jokes and comments. Quantic Dream categorically denied this immediately, threatening to sue over the comments.

On Twitter today, the studio released a statement in French, which was then translated on gaming forum ResetEra, then independently corroborated by Eurogamer. In the translated statement, Quantic Dream once again denied the accusations, and pointed to two of the three employee lawsuits against them being dismissed, with a third still in dispute.

Blizzard Details Overwatch Lunar New Year Event With A New Map

Blizzard announced last week that the Lunar New Year event celebrating the Year of the Dog is coming back this year, but neglected to say what's new or coming back.

In a developer diary video today, director Jeff Kaplan outlined what changes are being made for the new event. The first major addition is a new map in Thailand, the first of its kind as it's built specifically for Capture the Flag. The tweaks go further, as Kaplan says that CTF mode can no longer end in a draw.

We know historically every time we’ve had draws in Overwatch, there has been discontent in the player base and we want to get rid of draws," Kaplan explained. "We know that they’re not very exciting and they can feel very anticlimactic. So, we’ve added a Sudden-Death mechanic if the two teams are tied at the end of time; what will happen is both teams flags are moved closer to the center of the map and then the map resumes at that point and the teams will go for the flags and then they only have a very short distance to cap."

Report: First Female Overwatch League Athlete Joins Shanghai Dragons

Kim "Geguri" Se-yeon is set to join the Shanghai Dragons, reports ESPN. If made official, Geguri will be the first woman to join the entire league.

Geguri, who plays off-tank, will reportedly be joined by Lee "Fearless" Eui-Seok, Cheon "Ado" Ki-hyun, and an unnamed Chinese player on the Shanghai Dragons. The team has had a disappointing debut in the competitive Overwatch season so far, "currently sitting last in the standings without a match victory thus far, accumulating a 4-33 map record and 0-8 match record," according to ESPN. The team only has two more games in stage one, which could easily end without a single win if things don't change.

Geguri, as mentioned, would be the first female competitor in the entire Overwatch League, a criticism that has haunted the league and Blizzard since the initial team reveal. This addition would also make Geguri one of the only women playing at the highest level in esports in their respective games.

New Game From FTL Developers, Into The Breach, Coming February 27

Subset Games, the developers behind famously successful spaceship simulator FTL: Faster Than Light, has announced the release date for their new game, Into the Breach. The game will release on PC on February 27, slightly over a year after the game's original announcement.

The tactical RPG has been heavily anticipated after FTL's strong success and takes influence from XCOM. The game is set in the far future where giant monsters have invaded Earth and the only way to stop them is with mechs offering high degrees of modability. Throw in some time travel and you have a recipe for an interesting new take on the genre.

The game has also been announced for Linux, but it isn't clear if that version is releasing alongside the Windows one.

Catch Up On The Yakuza Series With Sega's Interactive Comic

Catch Up On The Yakuza Series With Sega's Interactive Comic

Yakuza 6, despite a small delay, is still barreling down the pike for its April release. Since Sega knows it can be troublesome to get the full Yakuza story head of the sixth game, they've provided some comics for people to catch up.

The comics go over the bits and pieces of Yakuza all the way from 0 to Yakuza 5, setting up the aging Kiryu's story in his final adventure in Kamurocho. While it would be nice to play through all the games before Yakuza 6, time can be a limiting factor. Additionally, Clan Codes are hidden in the comic, which can be applied to the Yakuza 6 clan mechanic for special characters like Daigo Dojima.

Though if you want to go through the games, as well, today's addition of Yakuza 5 to PlayStation Now means the only game that's not playable on the PS4 is Yakuza 3. Which, if you're going to miss any Yakuza game, it might as well be that one.

Try Out Crossing Souls A Week Ahead Of Its Release

Try Out Crossing Souls A Week Ahead Of Its Release

As soon as the trailer starts rolling for Crossing Souls, you can't help but think of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon or Kung Fury. Their take on the stereotypical 80's aesthetic is amusing and satirical, but Fourattic's game is more of a respectful tribute to that decade with its vibrant visuals, eccentric cast, and nostalgic setting. For those that are interested, an hour-long demo is now available ahead of its release on both PS4 and PC.

The premise follows a ragtag group of teens who stumble across an artifact that allows them to interact with specters throughout history. Considering the gameplay has a hodgepodge of elements reminiscent to Hyper Light Drifter, Earthbound, Outland, and more, it might be best to download the newly released demo for yourself to see how it fares.

Crossing Souls involves controlling a party of several characters with light action-RPG combat. Puzzles are spread throughout the experience. These involve interacting with the past and the present, but in-between the brainteasers and building your inventory, there's plenty of exploration to be had in the gang's local California town.

Switch's Library Is Three Times Bigger Than Wii U's Was At This Point

A report reveals the Switch already has sold three times the number of games the Wii U did at this same time in its lifecycle.

Kotaku UK reports at the end of December, or the Switch's 279th day on the market, they downloaded data from more than 18,000 games and 250,000 reviews from Metacritic. According to the data, the Switch by then had 191 games available, whereas on the 279th day the Wii U and Wii had about 60 and 65 games, respectively, according to a chart. The Wii U didn't reach 191 games until 856 days after launch. On the other hand, PlayStation 4 had about 100 games, while Xbox One fell slightly behind it.

The data also shows how well games were reviewed among Switch, Wii U, and Wii in that timeframe. Games on Metacritic that score at least 80 or higher and reviewed by at least 40 different outlets were looked at. Around 45 Switch games met those credentials within its first 279 days, while the Wii U and Wii each had about 50 games like that in both console's entire life span.
